PARIS, July 13, 2026 — Hyundai Motor Group continued its support for global arts and culture by officially sponsoring the second Sumi Jo International Singing Competition. The event, aimed at discovering the next generation of opera stars, took place from July 6–11 at the historic Château de La Ferté-Imbault in the Loire Valley, France.

Founded by world-renowned soprano Sumi Jo in 2024, the competition aims to discover and nurture emerging vocal artists aged 18-32. This year’s edition attracted greater global interest in the classical music world, drawing over 500 aspiring singers from 55 countries.

The Group participated as official sponsor for the second edition, continuing its support from the inaugural competition. As 2026 marks the 140th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations, its sponsorship contributed to nurturing artistic talent and promoting classical music culture while advancing cultural exchange between the two nations.

The jury for this year’s edition was composed of leading figures from the classical music world, providing a vital link between the next generation of vocalists and the established music community. Medinger, jury president and owner of Château de La Ferté-Imbault; Jonathan Friend, artistic advisor to the Houston Grand Opera; Paolo Gavazzeni, casting manager for La Scala; Alain Lanceron, honorary chairman of Warner Classics and Erato; Melanie Allmendinger, artistic administrator at the Royal Opera House; and tenor Marcelo Álvarez.

How Is Genesis Expanding in Europe?

Genesis recently announced its plan to expand into Austria, Denmark, Portugal and Poland by 2027, bringing its total European footprint to 11 markets. The premium automotive brand aims to have more than 50 locations operational across Europe by 2027.

Present in France since February 2026, Genesis has opened its first two dedicated retail locations in Paris and Lille. FRANKFURT, Germany, Sept. 12, 2025 — The Genesis Electrified G80* was named the winner in the imported upper mid-size category at yesterday's Company Car of the Year 2025 awards ceremony. The prestigious award was presented at IAA Mobility in Munich.

The Company Car of the Year award recognizes the best vehicles for commercial use in 17 categories. A total of 266 models were nominated. An independent jury of fleet experts first selected three favorites per category and then, optionally, the best import models. 

"We are delighted that the Genesis Electrified G80 impressed the jury. This award confirms our claim to set standards in the demanding fleet segment with timeless design, state-of-the-art technology and premium service," explains Christian Henkes, Head of Marketing at Genesis Motor Germany. 

The Genesis Electrified G80 impresses in the 2025 model year with striking innovations such as a 94.5 kilowatt-hour battery for ranges of up to 570 kilometers, rear-axle steering and a wheelbase extended by 13 centimeters. The launch marks the brand’s ongoing expansion into Africa and signals a bold new chapter across the Middle East and Africa.

To celebrate the arrival, Genesis hosted a high-profile brand launch event on Aug. 7 set against the serene backdrop of the crystalline shores of KIKI’S Sage in Hacienda Sidi Heneish on the North Coast. Genesis unveiled three key models: the GV60, the Electrified GV70 and the Electrified G80. The Genesis G70, the G80, the Electrified G80, the G90, the GV70, the Electrified GV70 and the GV80 were named as winners in their respective categories after editors carefully tested, evaluated and scrutinized nearly 500 vehicles on the market today.

What was the key focus for improving NVH in the latest Electrified G80?

Since the Electrified G80 is Genesis’ flagship EV sedan, the key was upgrading soundproofing performance, particularly in the rear seat area. To achieve this, we significantly reinforced the sound-deafening features in the back, like increasing the use of sound-absorbing materials in the C-pillar area. The quarter glass, which is close to passengers’ ears, has become thicker and made soundproof.

What new measures have been taken to reduce overall road noise?

Sound-absorbing tires that reduce resonance have been applied as a standard, and the upper suspension arms have been equipped with dynamic dampers to lessen noise transmitted from the road surface. Quarter insulators have also been placed between the panels of the rear wheel housings to block noise and improve sound insulation. We even applied nearly twice as many foam fillers than its predecessor to block noise from infiltrating the cabin.

How did the longer wheelbase affect the vehicle’s NVH?

The redesigned model is 130 millimeters longer than the previous version. In other words, our top priority was to address the potential issue of noise transmission through the car floor. We started by enhancing the structure of the floor carpet, which plays a crucial role in absorbing sound on the floor panel. The problem with the integrated floor carpet in our previous Electrified G80 was that it had trouble fitting tightly with the floor panel due to interfering components such as wires and air conditioning ducts. Our new split-type carpet, on the other hand, allows for complete adhesion to every part of the floor. We’ve also extended the length of the pads attached to the front seat center tunnel while increasing the use of sound-absorption material around the rear seat floor area to effectively block high-frequency noise.

What about wind noise?

Windows in the redesigned model are now thicker. The rear and quarter glass have increased in thickness from 3.5 millimeters to 5 millimeters, with soundproof glass having been applied. The windshield and front door glass also utilize 5-millimeter soundproof glass, while the rear door glass uses 4-millimeter soundproof glass. We have also reshaped the cowl cover at the point where the hood meets the windshield to optimize aerodynamic performance. This significantly mitigates the intensity of the turbulence generated at the end of the hood, greatly reducing wind noise during high-speed driving. To suppress noise entering through gaps around the glass, the shapes of relevant components have been changed as well, and their rigidity has been reinforced to ensure better sealing between parts.

How did you tackle noise coming from the high-voltage battery and power electric system?

To reduce noise caused by electromagnetic force generated during motor operation, we utilized an optimized motor control technique that balances out the force, consequently lessening motor noise without compromising efficiency and gear ratio. Meanwhile, soundproofing material was attached to the top surface of the battery pack to further reduce high-frequency noise.

Were there any other NVH improvements in the latest Electrified G80?

The upgraded Electrified G80 boasts several new convenience features in the back row, including independently adjustable power reclining seats. With the addition of these seats, we particularly tried to minimize the possible transmission of motor noise from the rear wheels into the cabin. Special attention was given to the reclining zone, where we optimized the choice of materials and enhanced sound absorption performance to effectively reduce noise levels.

With the redesigned Electrified G80 being 130 millimeters longer than its predecessor, Jungwoo Lee, Research Engineer at the Genesis R&H Test Team, explains how he and his colleagues approached a core mission for the brand’s latest EV sedan: enhancing comfort in the back row. 

What was the key focus in improving ride and handling for the redesigned Electrified G80? 

When I first laid eyes on the redesigned model, the extended wheelbase immediately caught my attention. Our focus for this model quickly became recreating the exceptional ride comfort of our flagship Genesis G90, particularly in the back seats. We wanted to make a rear space where people could attend to their personal business and truly relax. To achieve this, we significantly upgraded our suspension system, allowing the vehicle to effectively absorb road vibrations and jolts, resulting in a smooth and comfortable ride under any circumstances. 

The redesigned model is heavier, too, with all the added convenience features and increased high-voltage battery capacity. How did this affect the model’s overall ride and handling? 

The redesigned Electrified G80 weighs 2,365 kilograms, which is 90 kilograms, or 4 percent, heavier than the previous model. From an engineering perspective, this increase in mass results in greater inertia, which means that more control is required to effectively handle the vehicle. In other words, more force, such as engine output and brake force, is needed to initiate and stop the vehicle. In terms of ride comfort, this weight increase leads to a more sensitive response to different road surfaces. As for handling, even subtle changes in steering can easily destabilize the car, requiring the driver to remain vigilant to maintain control. To address these challenges, we implemented a robust suspension setup. 

How exactly was the suspension improved? 

Among significant upgrades, the replacement of the rubber bushing — mounted on the front side of the rear crossmember — with hydro bushing proved to be particularly effective in upgrading the comfort of the rear seats. Suspension bushings have non-linear characteristics, which means that the frequency range of resonance induced by vibrations on the road varies. Resonance leads to increased noise transmitted to the interior. But hydro bushings improve driving vibration and rear-seat comfort by creating a fluid circuit to attenuate external vibrations at a specific peak frequency. Stabilizer bars, which control the vehicle’s roll [lateral movement], were also upgraded with newly applied steel-cut bushings that reduce vertical stiffness to offset road vibrations. 

Other efforts we undertook to improve suspension include installing various bushings in the front and rear suspension systems to minimize road noise, as well as applying rebound springs to the rear shock absorbers to lessen the impact of compression and expansion during vertical movements. 

What can drivers expect from the newly adopted Rear Wheel Steering system?

The Rear Wheel Steering system operates in two main modes: reverse phase, where the front and rear wheels turn in opposite directions; and parallel phase, where the front and rear wheels turn in the same direction. These modes are designed to provide improved handling and maneuverability during low-speed and mid- to high-speed driving, respectively. While the specifications and functionality of the Rear Wheel Steering system in the Electrified G80 are the same as the ones in the G90 and the G80 Sport models, the one in the Electrified G80 has undergone specific tuning to optimize back-seat comfort.

How much of a difference does this Rear Wheel Steering system make? 

The reverse phase mode of the Rear Wheel Steering system allows the rear wheels to turn up to 3.5 degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels. This reduces the turning radius of the vehicle, providing greater convenience in situations like U-turns, navigating narrow streets, parking and exiting parking spaces. It’s almost like you forget the car is even 5.1 meters long. Without such a Rear Wheel Steering system, the previous Electrified G80 had a minimum turning radius of 5.81 meters. Now, even with a 130-millimeter longer wheelbase, the minimum turning radius of the redesigned model is 0.38 meters shorter than before. This allows for far more precise maneuvering on tight roads. 

And what about the parallel phase mode? 

The parallel phase mode of the Rear Wheel Steering system allows the rear wheels to turn up to 2 degrees in the same direction as the front wheels. This increases driving stability and rear-wheel tracking when making high-speed turns or quick lane changes at speeds of 60 kilometers per hour or above. The threshold for switching between the reverse phase and parallel phase modes also varies depending on the driving mode, adding to the excitement and enjoyment of driving. For example, in Comfort Mode, the mode switches to parallel phase mode once the speed exceeds 60 kilometers per hour. However, in Sport Mode, the mode switches at speeds of 80 kilometers or above, offering a dynamic and exhilarating driving experience when taking corners quickly. 

The redesigned Electrified G80 also comes with the newly applied Chauffeur Mode. 

The new model is fitted with Electronically Controlled Suspension with Road Preview (Preview ECS), which scans the road ahead with a forward-facing camera and navigation map data. Preview ECS preemptively detects ridges and automatically adjusts the suspension’s damping force to minimize abrupt bounces and jolts. Chauffeur Mode utilizes the damping control function of this Preview ECS to minimize the rear-end movement of the vehicle. It effectively controls bounce [vertical movement of the vehicle's center] and bump pitch [forward and backward tilting movement], providing a significantly smoother ride when encountering large shocks. 

The redesigned model has further been refined to enhance the motor torque and friction resistance of the motor-driven power steering system. This modification effectively minimizes the yaw motion [rotational movement around the vehicle's center axis] of the vehicle, especially during turns.

Was the added Chauffeur Mode for the brake system also intended to increase comfort in the back row? 

Brake modes can be independently configured by the driver through the infotainment monitor. Using the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB), the driver can separately adjust the pedal stroke and brake hydraulic pressure to create a unique braking feel. The redesigned Electrified G80 is equipped with a recalibrated IEB that befits its stature as the brand’s flagship EV sedan. 

The newly added Chauffeur Mode provides a focused braking feel that boosts maneuverability, allowing for even smoother and more comfortable control over the vehicle's movement. While the Chauffeur Mode functions differently as a driving mode compared to the Chauffeur Mode as a brake mode, both ultimately contribute to enhancing rear-seat comfort.

Three years after its initial launch in 2021, Genesis’ latest electric vehicle (EV) comes with a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, resulting in extra legroom and headroom in the rear seats.

Bohyun Park, Senior Research Engineer at the Genesis Engineering Solutions Team, explains how a steadfast obsession with creating a more comfortable ride led to the upgrades, and what the future holds for the brand’s flagship EV sedan. 
 

One of the biggest changes in the redesigned Electrified G80 seems to be the spacious back row.

Some of our customers who purchased the previous Electrified G80 said they would have liked more space and convenience features in the second row. And that’s probably because the EV model was built on the same platform as its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the Genesis G80. So when we started planning for the redesigned Electrified G80, our first and foremost priority was to maximize comfort in the rear seats, targeting VIPs. Hence, we stretched the wheelbase by 130 millimeters and added more features such as power reclining seats, Ergo Motion technology , electric door curtains, wireless charging pads and EasyClose [which enables passengers to conveniently open and close their doors with a push of a button on the rear console armrest, door trim or front center console].

Extending the wheelbase: How does that normally work? 

Adding more room in the cabin by simply enlarging the body is easy. What’s not easy is adding more room in the cabin and creating a comfortable, user-friendly space all the while perfecting our brand’s design philosophy, “Athletic Elegance.” Approaching this task, our focus was to optimize the dimensions of the vehicle by extending the length, specifically the wheelbase, by 130 millimeters. The 130-millimeter increase was then split between 70 millimeters toward expanding passenger space and 60 millimeters for seat adjustments.

What do you mean by “optimizing” the dimensions of the vehicle?

Once we decided to create more space in the back, we narrowed it down to three core objectives: more legroom, more headroom, and recreating the Rest Mode seat position originally offered in the Genesis G90. To this end, we moved the hip point [the point where the hips touch the seat] of the rear seats 70 millimeters backward, allowing passengers — even tall people above 180 centimeters — to comfortably stretch their legs. We also incorporated independently adjustable power reclining seats, unprovided in the ICE model. Improved seat designs in the EV model required an additional space of 60 millimeters compared to the previous model.

How about the legroom and headroom? 

For the front row, both the legroom and headroom remain the same as the previous Electrified G80. For the back, they’ve been increased by 82 millimeters and 20 millimeters, respectively. Whereas people often feel cramped in the back of an EV sedan because of the battery packs underneath, the redesigned Electrified G80 eliminates this issue by offering additional legroom and headroom. The car is even now 5 millimeters higher than before, maintaining its athletic and elegant roofline. 
 

The back seats also look a lot more comfortable than before.

The newly implemented power reclining seats allow for personalized seatback and bottom cushion tilt angles, enabling passengers to adjust their positions according to preferences. More specifically, a leg rest function has been added in the rear right VIP seat to provide extra support for the feet. When Rest Mode is activated, the front passenger seat moves forward, while the angles of the seatback, bottom cushion and leg rest in the rear right seat are modified to create an optimized seating position. The extent of modification for this leg rest may vary depending on various factors such as whether a passenger is in the front seat, and its reclining angle.

For those who chose to go without the power reclining seat option at the time of purchase, the fixed rear seats come with extra padding in the cushions and are tilted back by 2 more degrees. 

Developing both ICE and EV models using the same platform doesn’t sound easy. What was particularly challenging?

Unlike SUVs or crossovers, it’s critical for EV sedans to secure sufficient ground clearance to accommodate the high-voltage battery located at the bottom of the car. When using the same upper body for both the ICE and EV models, there are, of course, bound to be differences in interior space. That's why the latest Electrified G80 features a longer body, thus providing ample space for passengers within the cabin. 

What’s the next step for the Electrified G80? 

The most important factor to consider in a flagship EV model like the Electrified G80 is to provide customers with a comfortable, distinct experience. This includes both physical space and the overall emotional experience. As Genesis moves forward with electrification, the brand will continue to design interior spaces that offer elevated comfort and luxury.

With over 15 years of dedicated research, Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) has made significant advancements in battery management systems, known as BMS. Widely referred to as the vehicle’s “brain,” BMS effectively provides the necessary control information to ensure optimal utilization of batteries, giving EV owners peace of mind.

What is BMS? 

A key role of the Group’s BMS is precise battery system monitoring. By swiftly detecting any abnormalities in the battery’s performance, it assesses the level of risk and performs necessary safety controls within the vehicle. When necessary, it also alerts the car owner of those anomalies, thus preventing any major issues from arising. 

EV battery fires can occur for various reasons, but the majority are due to cell defects or cell shorts caused by impacts. To watch out for any irregularities in this regard, the Group’s BMS constantly monitors the battery during driving and charging, and even periodically during parking. 

Among the variety of factors monitored by the BMS are voltage deviation, insulation resistance, current and voltage fluctuations, as well as temperature and overvoltage. In the Group’s latest released vehicles, the systems are equipped with additional capabilities to detect instantaneous and micro-short circuits, enabling them to identify potential faults that might have occurred several days or weeks prior.

Recognizing the effectiveness of these short circuit detection technologies in spotting potential battery fires, the Group plans to implement them in all newly sold vehicles. For previously sold EVs, the Group intends to develop relevant update tools by the end of the year for gradual application. 

How Does BMS Work? 

When the BMS detects signs of abnormalities, it promptly initiates necessary safety controls and, depending on the severity of the risk, immediately notifies the car owner. This involves communicating the detected signs to a remote support center, which then triggers an automatic text message to be sent to the owner, advising them to bring the vehicle in for inspection.

Going forward, the Group is looking to further improve the BMS so that it automatically alerts local authorities of severe risks. Other efforts include developing an “onboard-cloud integrated safety management system,” which combines advanced diagnostic technology and cloud server-based remote precision diagnostics, utilizing physical and machine learning models. 

3-Step Overcharging Prevention System 

Throughout the history of the Group’s EV vehicles, there hasn’t been a single case of an EV fire caused by overcharging. This can be attributed to the effective monitoring capabilities of the BMS and its seamless coordination with the charging controller. 

The Group’s overcharging prevention technology incorporates a reliable three-step system that guarantees safety: 

Step 1. The BMS and charging controller constantly manage the charging process of high-voltage batteries, ensuring safe charging within the optimal current range. 

Step 2. The BMS monitors the battery’s charging status in real-time. If it discovers any deviations from the normal range, it quickly triggers the charging process to halt. 

Step 3. In the unlikely event that both the vehicle control unit and battery control unit malfunction, a physical safety circuit is triggered, forcibly disconnecting the current pathway.

Cell Balancing Technology 

Another key aspect of the Group’s BMS is its cell balancing technology, which comprehensively manages the battery cells to maintain optimal durability and performance. 

The BMS detects any cases of voltage variation among cells and performs cell balancing control to minimize the voltage difference. It also constantly monitors battery temperature and overall condition to calculate and control the maximum power output that the battery can provide.

SEOUL, Sept. 5, 2024 — Genesis today announced the start of sales in Korea for the newly designed Electrified G80, marking the first model update in three years. 

It’s the first time the Electrified G80 has been redesigned since its initial debut in July 2021. 

The latest model, which was unveiled at this year’s Beijing Auto Show on April 25 and at the Busan International Mobility Show on June 27, comes with an elongated body and numerous design and technology updates, setting a new standard for the luxury electric sedan. 

Exterior: Athletic Elegance in its Finest Form 

The newly designed Electrified G80 boasts design upgrades down to the most minute details, capturing the essence of Genesis’ design philosophy, “Athletic Elegance.” 

The front fascia features the brand’s iconic G-Matrix Crest Grille with a new gradient pattern along with enlarged air intakes and Two-Line Micro Lens Array (MLA) headlamps. 

Located on the upper right-hand corner of the bumper, the charging port blends more seamlessly with the Crest Grille, with the cover now opening and closing with a simple touch of a button. Its upgraded inner cover and lighting exude a more sophisticated feel, while a heating function inside the port ensures convenient charging under any weather conditions. 

On the side, the new Electrified G80 impresses with its extended wheelbase of 3,140 millimeters, which is 130 millimeters longer than the previous version. The addition of exclusive 19-inch wheels enhances the model’s luxurious appeal and improves aerodynamic performance. 

The rear of the vehicle has been refined to showcase a cleaner bumper design, with new chrome accents running across the side of the vehicle and bumper, completing a sleeker image. 

The model comes in 10 different exterior color options, including the exclusive “Matira Blue” and new “Geneva Silver.” 

Interior: Relaxing Ambience With High-Tech Features 

The redesigned interior of the new Electrified G80 combines a sense of luxury with high-tech sophistication in the spacious setting, thanks chiefly to the elongated wheelbase. 

With the model being 130 millimeters longer than its previous version, backseat passengers can now enjoy 995 millimeters of legroom, up by 83 millimeters than before, as well as 950 millimeters of headroom, an improvement by 20 millimeters. 

The 27-inch OLED display, which combines the cluster and infotainment systems while extending to the center fascia, allows the driver to split the screen into two or three sections. This enables them to simultaneously use the navigation map while accessing their favorite online streaming services, all in one screen. 

The touch-based heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system thoughtfully offers drivers ease of control, while the redesigned crystal-shaped Shift By Wire (SBW) and Central Control Panel (CCP) ensure a more comfortable grip than before. 

Complete with real aluminum speaker covers, the premium 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system takes the auxiliary experience to the next level with cutting-edge Dolby Atmos technology. 

Other interior features that enhance the overall soothing atmosphere of the new Electrified G80 include the ambient mood lamps — which locations and brightness have been readjusted — a redesigned steering wheel and backseat quilted door trims. 

Four interior color combinations are offered in the new model: “Obsidian Black Mono-tone,” “Ecru Camel Mono-tone,” “Prussian Blue Mono-tone” and “Ash Gray/Glacier White Two-tone." 

Luxury Meets Technology in the 2nd Row 

The redesigned Electrified G80 is the first electric vehicle (EV) model within the Genesis lineup to be equipped with the Chauffeur Mode, which allows for smooth acceleration and rear-seat passenger comfort through the optimization of torque and suspension settings. The Chauffeur Braking Mode specifically aims for the adjustment to the hydraulic braking control system for smoother braking. 

With a tap on the screen, backseat passengers can easily adjust their seats in at least 14 different directions and to a maximum recline angle of 40 degrees. The wing-out head rests and the Comfort Setting function are especially beneficial during long road trips, providing added relaxation. 

Second-row passengers can also conveniently open and close their doors with a push of the EasyClose button, while enjoying privacy and shade by utilizing the electric door curtains. By using Connected-car Rear Cockpit (ccRC), they can stay entertained and pass time during their journey. 

Enhanced Driving Pleasure With Extended Range 

The redesigned Electrified G80 incorporates a range of technological improvements that extend its driving range. 

Now equipped with a 94.5-kilowatt per hour fourth-generation battery, the model can travel 475 kilometers on a single charge (based on Korean EV certification standards). 

Upgraded front and rear suspension bushings have been applied to reduce road vibrations and maintain driving stability. 

The Road-Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS) feature improves driving stability by preemptively controlling the vehicle’s behavior based on information from the navigation system and other sources. The Electrically Assisted Dynamic Torque Vectoring (eDTVC) function distributes torque to each wheel during cornering, enabling stable and precise handling in turns. 

The model’s Rear Wheel Steering (RWS) system allows drivers to steer the rear wheels in conjunction with the front axle, which facilitates smoother maneuvering in tight spaces or U-turning. 

Electric Vehicle Active Sound Design (e-ASD) adds two unique sounds to the EV, making the journey more exhilarating. For further interior tranquility, the cabin is equipped with thicker quarter and rear glass panels, while additional insulators are placed around the second row. 

“Horizon,” one of the two new engine sounds in the redesigned Electrified G80, was created with the concept of viewing the Earth’s horizon from outer space — providing a mixture of serene sounds of the cosmos and a majestic sense of acceleration depending on the driving conditions. “Heritage: Black” expresses Genesis’ luxurious driving inspired by the harmonic structure of the six-cylinder engine. 

The e-ASD sound system can be adjusted by 20 different volume levels. When changed to Sport Mode, sound volumes are automatically raised. 

The blade-integrated Smart Washer Injection (SMI) minimizes visibility obstructions and peripheral contamination caused by washer fluid spraying, while also reducing operating noise. 

Other convenience and safety features for the redesigned Electrified G80 includes the Fingerprint Authentication System, used when entering the vehicle; heated console armrests for the front-row seats; Integrated Memory System in the passenger seat; 3-Zone+ Climate Control with independent rear-seat airflow control; Digital Key 2; and Hands On Detection steering wheel.

Genesis also ranked third in the premium brand category, improving by two ranks overall from the prior year.

BUSAN, Korea, June 27, 2024 — The Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept was unveiled for the first time today at the Busan International Mobility Show 2024 (BIMOS), highlighting the brand’s bold leap into the realm of high-performance luxury mobility. 

With the X Gran Racer VGT Concept being a part of the high-performance Genesis Magma program, today’s event marked the first time that a Magma vehicle was shown to the Korean public. 

The redesigned Genesis Electrified G80, which made its world premiere at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China) on April 25, was also showcased for the first time in Korea today at BIMOS. 

Making its Asian debut at BIMOS was the Genesis Neolun Concept, following its global premiere in New York on March 25.

Performance and Powertrain 

At the heart of the concept lies a front mid-mounted race-spec Lambda II V6 engine enhanced with Genesis’ electric supercharger (E-S/C) technology. The hybrid powertrain combines to deliver an astonishing 1,540 horsepower and 1,015 pound-feet of torque. The V6 engine delivers 870 horsepower and 790 pound-feet at 10,000 revolutions per minute, while the front E motor generates an additional 670 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. 

This represents a significant leap from the X Gran Berlinetta Concept's 1,071 horsepower (986 pound-feet of torque), showcasing Genesis' relentless pursuit of innovation. 
 

Neolun: Infusing Innovative Technology With Korean Hospitality 

As the brand’s first full-size electric SUV concept, the Neolun Concept embodies the ultimate Genesis hospitality behind the wheel with an array of state-of-the-art technological features, including B-pillarless coach doors, swiveling front-row seats and electric side steps. 

Revolving around the principle of “reductive design,” the exterior is characterized by clean, refined lines that deliberately eliminate any unnecessary details. The captivating two-tone scheme, called “Midnight Black and “Majestic Blue,” takes after Korea’s serene night sky and enhances the vehicle’s elegant design. 

Redesigned Electrified G80: Cutting-Edge Innovations 

The latest Electrified G80 is Genesis’ first redesign of the model since its global debut three years ago. 

The front fascia features the brand’s iconic G-Matrix Crest Grille with Micro Lens Array (MLA) headlamps and a refined bumper, accentuating Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy. 

The chrome garnish that envelopes the front, side and rear further elevate the look of the vehicle along with Genesis’ signature parabolic lines flowing over the new dish-style 19-inch wheels. 

Inside the vehicle, a longer wheelbase creates a roomier second-row area, providing various innovative features to elevate passenger comfort. After entering the vehicle, passengers can close the door with the push of a button using the EasyClose system and settle into reclining VIP seats with leg rests behind a rear-window curtain.

At BIMOS, the Genesis booth is located at Exhibition Center 1 in the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), open to the public from June 28 to July 7.

FRANKFURT, Germany, June 19, 2024 — Genesis has announced that its highly anticipated Genesis Magma program will make its global dynamic debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, including the global dynamic debut of the GV60 Magma Concept. 

Spectators will also have the chance to experience the global dynamic debut of the G80 EV Magma Concept. Both cars will be taking on the hillclimb twice a day over the weekend and displayed in the First Glance Paddock. For the first time ever, Genesis will also be competing to take part in the Shootout Sunday with the GV60 Magma Concept, showcasing its driving capabilities and turn of speed. 

The Genesis Magma program, announced in New York earlier this year, adds a new dimension to Genesis, marking the brand’s expansion into the realm of high-performance cars. Magma dynamics focus on a refined, effortless and rewarding driving experience, combined with a sharpened athletic design. 

Magma Program on Display 

In addition to the dynamic debuts of the GV60 Magma Concept and G80 EV Magma Concept, other models within the Genesis Magma program will also be displayed at the new Genesis stand. Located directly opposite the First Glance Paddock, these will include the G80 Magma Special and X Gran Berlinetta Concept. On the second floor, guests can have a chance to explore the electric trio of the GV60, Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70, all production vehicles within the existing lineup.

Two Magma Dynamic Debuts 

The GV60 Magma Concept features a redesigned front grille, wider front wings and a new rear bumper, giving it a dynamic stance. These design enhancements are complemented by a wider and lower body and 21-inch wheels, with the overall car’s aerodynamics having been improved to enhance performance. 

The G80 EV Magma Concept, which marks the second electric car model in the Magma program, embodies a heightened sense of athleticism and perfectly encapsulates power, performance and style. Dynamic enhancements are integral updates to the car, with the implementation of an advanced suspension system, high-performance wheels, and large, ventilated front and rear brakes.

Thermal Management System 

Thermal management systems play a crucial role in maintaining the optimal temperature of batteries. 

For lithium-ion batteries, the optimal temperature under normal driving conditions is typically between 20 and 35 degrees Celsius. To maintain this temperature range, EVs, like internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, use cooling systems that circulate coolants. 

Most automakers rely on what are called positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heaters to warm EV cabins, a type of electric heater that converts electrical energy into heat. The Group goes a step further and employs “heat pump” technology that utilizes wasted energy, increasing efficiency by over 10 percent at low temperatures compared to conventional systems.

To enhance heat pump technology, the Group is further conducting research on “gas injection” technology, which increases the refrigerant flow rate at ultra-low temperatures, allowing for greater heat recovery and significant improvement in efficiency. 

Battery Energy Density 

To increase the range and efficiency of EVs, the Group is also conducting research to improve the energy density of batteries, chiefly focusing on the following four areas. 

1. Enlarging Battery Cells for Higher Energy Capacity 

One way to increase the driving range per charge is to increase the amount of energy stored within the battery cells, which can be achieved through upscaling the battery cells. While the number of components going into smaller and larger cells remains the same, larger cells tend to have a decreased volume ratio for these components, which results in more space within the battery cell to store energy. 

2. Thick Film for High Current Density 

The Group is also changing the internal design of batteries by incorporating thick film technology. While conventional battery cells involve stacking thin layers of anode and cathode materials, along with aluminum and copper collectors, the use of thick film technology enables an increase in the thickness of positive and negative electrodes. This helps reduce the need for auxiliary materials like separators, consequently increasing energy density and saving resources such as aluminum and copper required for manufacturing the battery.

3. ‘Two-Stage Cathode Press’ for Cell Thinning 

Cathode pressing involves compressing the cathode using a press, which helps to shrink the size of the battery pack while increasing the energy density of the battery. What normally complicates this seemingly simple process is the occurrence of the “spring back” phenomenon — wherein the cathode thickness increases after the pressing process. To tackle this issue, the Group has developed a double-press method, which allows for the creation of battery cells with the desired thickness. 

4. ‘Bat Ear’ Volume Reduction 

Bat ear volume reduction is a technique used for pouch-type battery cells, which consist of a functional layer that enables adhesion. When heat is applied to both sides, the layer forms a pouch. The Group’s research concentrates on folding any protruding parts — or bat ears — during this process, ultimately reducing the overall volume during stacking. This enables a higher energy capacity within the battery cell. 

Battery Materials 

Battery material research is not to be overlooked. The Group is conducting research on various material technologies to enhance energy density in battery cells. 

With cathode materials, efforts are being made to increase the nickel content and improve the lifespan and stability. What began as a 30 percent or lower nickel content in the early development of lithium-ion batteries has now reached up to 80 to 90 percent. However, high nickel content can have some disadvantages in terms of lifespan and thermal stability, which is why the Group is trying to solve this issue by minimizing chemically induced reactions through various element combinations and surface treatments. 

In the case of anode materials, research is primarily conducted in the high-densification of graphite particles, with the Group also working on enhancing energy density through the development of high-capacity silicon technologies. Silicon anode materials are drawing attention as potential replacements for graphite-based anodes due to their unit energy density advantage, which is more than 10 times higher. However, their drawback being natural volume expansion during charge and discharge processes necessitates the development of techniques to control this expansion. The Group, therefore, is studying ways to enhance anode energy density through the appropriate combination of silicon and graphite materials.

Another area of research centers around battery electrolyte volume. While electrolytes do not have a significant impact on cell capacity, reducing their volume can improve cell energy density. 

Other subjects of research include optimizing the usage of electrolytes and exploring the use of high-performance additives to improve the lifespan and output of battery cells. The Group is also working to reduce the thickness of the separator, which would reduce the volume it occupies within the battery cell. 

Ultra-Fast Charging 

To significantly reduce waiting times for EV charging, the Group is studying optimal battery materials and structural designs aimed at minimizing heat generation and lowering resistance, partly by applying new algorithms. 

One example is the so-called battery preconditioning feature, which optimizes the battery temperature even before charging begins. With batteries typically having much lower charging efficiency at lower temperatures, this reduces the initial resistance, ultimately quickening the speed of charging.

BEIJING, April 25, 2024 — Today at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2024), global luxury automotive brand Genesis showcased the newly designed Electrified G80 and three models from its Magma program. 

Reaffirming its commitment to China, the redesigned Electrified G80 luxury sedan incorporates features tailored to meet the market’s unique customer preferences, which include an exclusive China-only “Vision Blue” color. 

Genesis also introduced its new high-performance Magma program in China with the world premiere of the G80 EV Magma Concept, alongside showcases of the X Gran Berlinetta Concept and the GV60 Magma Concept, signaling the brand’s evolution as it enters the high-performance segment. Genesis also started sales of the Genesis GV80 Coupe, its first coupe SUV, as well as the redesigned GV80, offering Chinese consumers more choices as it continues expanding its lineup in the country. 

Commemorating three years since its entry to China, Genesis is reinforcing its commitment to the region with the double world premiere of the redesigned Electrified G80 and the G80 EV Magma Concept.

Newly Designed Electrified G80 Makes Debut 

The newly designed Electrified G80 was unveiled in a new blue color exclusive to the Chinese market. Inspired by the Chinese saying that “the color blue is richer than its indigo origin,” this new two-toned color, named Vision Blue, is derived from the noble blue color in Chinese culture and reinterpreted with Genesis’s unique aesthetics. 

The Electrified G80 illustrates the progression of Genesis’ EV design. Its dignified front face features the brand's iconic G-Matrix Crest Grille with MLA headlamps and a refined bumper, portraying a stance of confidence. The vehicle’s elongated wheelbase, which has been increased by 130 millimeters, adds to the sense of elegance and closely resembles the side profile and daylight opening (DLO) of the brand’s flagship model, the Genesis G90. 

Together with the brand’s signature Parabolic Lines flowing over the new dish-style 19-inch wheels, the chrome garnish that envelopes the front, side, and rear further elevates the overall look of the vehicle. Befitting a luxury EV, the charging port cover has also been upgraded to open and close electronically. 

As for the interior, the Electrified G80’s longer wheelbase not only offers more space in the second row, but brings with it a myriad of new features that are designed to enhance passenger comfort. After entering through the easy-close door, passengers can settle into reclining VIP seats with leg rests in privacy behind a rear-window curtain. The Ergo Motion Seats and Integrated Memory System (IMS) in the second row are also new features that are not found in its predecessor. 

The interior is further upgraded with the quilted garnish newly added to the second-row door. The vehicle’s cabin offers personalized entertainment for relaxation and work with a 27-inch OLED display, as well as a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Driving comfort is further elevated thanks to improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) reduction, adding to the experience of effortless luxury. 

Genesis Magma Program Arrives in China 

Genesis also introduced its Magma program in China with the world premiere of the G80 EV Magma Concept, also in a China-exclusive “Acme Blue” color, in addition to showcasing its X Gran Berlinetta Concept and the GV60 Magma Concept. 

The Genesis Magma program infuses the brand with a new dynamism and marks Genesis’ exciting entry into the realm of high-performance vehicles. Through Magma, Genesis endeavors to redefine the boundaries of performance and luxury, with the ultimate aim of developing a high-performance Magma variant for each existing model in the Genesis lineup. 

G80 EV Magma Concept

One of the standout features of the G80 EV Magma Concept is the China-exclusive Acme Blue color. Inspired by the blue flames that are known to burn at the highest temperature range, this unique color symbolizes the dedication to China’s continuous progress and advancement while also signifying the ever-evolving nature of the brand's Magma program. 

Building on the success of the GV60 Magma Concept, the G80 EV Magma Concept marks the second electric vehicle model in the Magma program. True to the Genesis ethos, this concept highlights a more athletic aspect compared to the Electrified G80, perfectly embodying power, performance, and style. 

In terms of design, the G80 EV Magma Concept features various enhancements. The front grille has been redesigned, offering a more striking appearance. Wider fenders and a new rear bumper give the vehicle a more commanding presence on the road. The wider body and lowered ride height are complemented by 21-inch wheels, which are wider at the rear. 

The rear bumper is adorned with an integrated fog lamp, reminiscent of iconic racing cars, while a sculpted trunklid and pronounced spoiler lip contribute to improved aerodynamics. The rear diffuser and ducktail spoiler work together to optimize the flow of air, further enhancing the vehicle's overall performance. 

Performance is a key element of the G80 EV Magma Concept, with various enhancements implemented. The use of an advanced suspension system, high-performance wheels, and large, ventilated front and rear brakes significantly enhance the vehicle's capabilities. 

The wider track, tuned suspension for elevated road-holding and cornering potential, and larger brakes ensure excellent handling and increased driver confidence. Keeping in mind the importance of weight management, the lightweight wheels have been optimized to cool the brakes while reducing unsprung weight. 

The interior of the G80 EV Magma Concept is crafted with Alcantara, quilted leather, and carbon fiber inserts featuring a blue-colored weave. 

GV60 Magma Concept 

First introduced last month at Genesis House New York, the GV60 Magma Concept elevates the design and performance of the existing GV60 — Genesis’ first dedicated EV model — with improved battery and motor technology. The concept car is the first step toward creating a deeper emotional connection between the driver and the vehicle. 

The GV60 Magma Concept’s exterior design harmonizes aesthetics with considerations for chassis, aerodynamics and thermodynamics. To enhance stability during sporty driving, the car has been widened and lowered, giving it a more dynamic stance and allowing for a lower center of gravity. 

The GV60 Magma Concept’s distinctive exterior design extends into the luxurious and sporty interior. It features elements including bucket seats with body-colored seatbacks, upholstered in nappa and suede leather featuring double-diamond stitching patterns in Magma’s iconic orange color and titanium grey. 

The X Gran Berlinetta Concept 

The X Gran Berlinetta Concept, first unveiled in Barcelona last December, was born from a design study that demonstrates Genesis’ passion and intent for the Vision Gran Turismo series. 

The X Gran Berlinetta Concept’s design language is pure and muscular with volumes centered around the wheels. Its design orchestrates the cab backwards proportions with Genesis’ typical anti-wedge attitude that is structured around a virtual parabolical tensioned theory, which is common to the Genesis model lineup. The package design maximizes the dash-to-axle ratio while moving the driver and powertrain rearward for a lean mid-engine layout. 

GV80 Coupe and Redesigned GV80 Begin Sales 

The GV80 Coupe marks the brand’s expansion into the luxury coupe SUV segment, bringing together extraordinary design and exceptional performance. TORONTO, Feb. 15, 2024 — The Genesis Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70 have been recognized as the best in their class by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), which today named the vehicles 2024 Canadian Electric Car of the Year and 2024 Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year. 

Since the brand’s introduction to the Canadian market in 2016, Genesis’ human-centered approach and uncompromising attention to detail have stood out among judges and consumers alike, making it one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in Canada. 

Reflecting the brand’s commitment to transitioning to a fully electric lineup, the Electrified G80 establishes an unprecedented benchmark for electric luxury sedans through its elegant design, impressive performance and efficiency. 

Introduced for the 2023 model year, the Electrified GV70 is the third fully electric vehicle to join the Genesis lineup, reflecting the brand’s commitment to electrification. Semi-finalists of the four Canadian Car of the Year (CCOTY) categories are selected following thorough, real-world evaluation. The 48 voting AJAC members from across Canada test each vehicle they vote on, evaluating a wide range of factors, including performance, technology, design and value. This year’s results were tabulated from over 600 anonymous ballots and verified by the audit and advisory firm KPMG. The results are kept confidential until winners are unveiled on stage at the kick-off of the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

In a separate acknowledgment, the Genesis GV70 and Electrified GV70 were crowned the Best Overall SUV in Canada for 2024 by AutoTrader.ca on February 16. The AutoTrader.ca Awards are highly regarded as one of Canada's most trusted and comprehensive auto awards, as winners are handpicked for setting a benchmark in their respective segments. 

“A great deal of care and attention has gone into the development of the GV70,” said Marshall. “We are both humbled and grateful to the AutoTrader.ca team of voting jurors for recognizing our achievements and presenting us with such significant awards.”

In this process of collaboration, battery manufacturers primarily concentrate on advancing battery technology, while the Group, which directly interacts with consumers, looks at developing battery technology that realizes customer value — batteries that are safe, easy to maintain and can be integrated into vehicles at the most reasonable price range.

Meticulous Coordination

When developing EVs, the Group first sets various performance targets for driving range, efficiency, power performance and charging time. It then determines factors like design, weight and aerodynamic coefficient, and accordingly calculates the required performance for components like electric motors, inverters and battery systems.

Just as the engine needs to be well-matched with the transmission in internal combustion vehicles, EVs also require meticulous coordination of drivetrain components such as electric motors, inverters and battery systems. This is so because each component has a close influence on one another. For instance, the inverter converts the battery’s direct current into alternating current to assist the operation of the electric motor, and the output of the electric motor is influenced by the voltage and current of the battery.

The Group’s battery roadmap, therefore, takes various factors into consideration while seeking to maintain technological leadership through ongoing research and development in all areas.

Investing in Innovation and Collaboration

In January 2022, the Group opened the HMG Battery Development Center, an integration of all the Group’s organizations related to battery development, including design, testing and advanced development. Over the following decade, the Group vowed to invest KRW 9.5 trillion for comprehensive research on cell and system design, hardware and software battery management system (BMS) as well as battery safety enhancement for EVs, hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

The HMG Battery Development Center sets its goal on becoming the “farthest, fastest and safest Smart Battery Solution Provider,” in line with the wider Group’s goal to become a “Smart Mobility Solution Provider.” Various external collaborative efforts are being undertaken in pursuit of this objective.

In partnership with Seoul National University, the Group launched a joint battery research center to conduct research on the advanced development of BMS and next-generation batteries. The Group is also collaborating with start-ups and major battery manufacturers like SK on and LG Energy Solution to foster joint research and secure manufacturing process technology.

As a result of recognizing the importance of a stable material supply for battery development and production, the Group has built a battery cell joint venture factory in Indonesia, allowing for convenient exports to the ASEAN region.

Further plans are in place to pursue supply contracts for lithium and establish a sustainable battery life cycle through waste battery collection and material recycling.

Breaking Barriers

Looking to the future of EV batteries, the Group is cooperating with specialized companies from around the world to advance the development of lithium-ion batteries. Research spans across improvements in stability, increased energy density for extended driving range, expanded output to shorten charging time and a reduction in production costs for wider distribution.

However, increasing the capacity of lithium-ion batteries alone is not enough to lead the future EV market. In this respect, the Group is accelerating the development of core technologies for next-generation batteries, focusing on three main directions.

The first is to increase the energy density of the battery cell, which means developing lithium metal battery technology that replaces graphite with lithium metal as the cathode material, which can theoretically store 10 times more energy than lithium-ion batteries.

The second endeavor centers around price reduction, where cobalt-free batteries can be a good illustration. Cobalt, although vital for durability, increases overall battery costs due to its high price. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries are a prominent example of cobalt-free batteries. The Group aims to commercialize LFP batteries through joint research around 2025 to secure price competitiveness in the EV market.

The third development concentrates on the advancement of high-safety batteries to address the vulnerability of safety that comes with increased energy density. The development of solid-state batteries and research on thermal runaway prevention technology are expected to greatly change the course of battery technology.

The Group plans to pilot-produce EVs with all-solid-state batteries in 2025, with full-scale mass production to follow around 2030. The development of these next-generation batteries will play a crucial role in shaping the future of mobility, not only in EVs but also in robotics and advanced air mobility (AAM) applications.

Over the years, Genesis has enhanced numerous prestigious venues with its luxury vehicles, escorting world leaders and top celebrities down red carpets as they embarked on their historic journeys. At the forefront of the brand’s chauffeur sponsorships is the G90, renowned for its sophisticated aesthetics and spacious interior. 

Where Luxury Meets Technology 

Just as recently as early October, the G90 was among some 110 Genesis cars sponsored for the 28th Busan International Film Festival, Korea’s largest movie event held in the nation’s second biggest city, to chauffeur movie directors and actors. 

The flagship model, often dubbed the “CEO car,” comes equipped with a wide array of technological features that ensure the highest level of comfort. 

The rear seats of the G90 and G90 Long Wheel Base (LWB) version boast a reclining angle of 42 degrees and 45 degrees, respectively, allowing passengers to lie in a comfortable position for the entire car ride. When the footrest and leg rest are extended, an integrated structure ensures full-body support, guaranteeing the utmost comfort. The G90 also incorporates a massage function that alleviates passenger stress while on the move.

In the back of the front-row seats, there are touch screen monitors that come with Mood Curator, allowing passengers to select the music, lighting, curtain, massage functions and even scent of their liking based on four different modes: “vitality,” “delight,” “care” and “comfort.” Furthermore, passengers can tailor the settings to align with their unique seating preferences. 

The Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS) system optimally controls the suspension based on road information obtained through front cameras and navigation data. 

Multi-Chamber Air Suspension enables the adjustment of air spring stiffness with three chambers, ensuring optimal ride comfort and driving stability, whether at regular speeds or in excess of 120 kilometers per hour. This works as the air volume in the front and rear chambers is fine-tuned depending on the selected driving mode. 

The synergy of these two suspension technologies is most effective when driving over speed bumps or rough terrain. The dampers and air springs, for instance, soften as the front and rear wheels approach a speed bump, causing the front end of the vehicle to rise by 10 millimeters when the car is about 100 meters ahead of the speed bump. The dampers and air springs firm back up as the wheels descend, minimizing vibrations.

As with sound, the G90 is outfitted with a Bang & Olufsen audio system that provides an unparalleled audio experience fit for its chauffeur-driven passengers. It’s also the world’s first vehicle equipped with Virtual Venues, a virtual 3D surround sound system that can simulate the sound field characteristics of famous theaters to create an environment of vivid sounds, such as the Boston Symphony Hall. 

The speaker system comes equipped with Active Road Noise Control (ANC-R), which emits counteracting sound waves through the speakers to effectively reduce road-generated noise. This feature complements the extensive use of sound-absorbing materials in critical areas of the vehicle. 

Setting the Green Standard at G20 Bali

Other than the G90, 44 units of an exclusively produced extended wheelbase version of the Electrified G80 were supported for the G20 Summit held in Bali, Indonesia in November 2022, backing the Summit’s focus on energy security and the transition to lower carbon energy systems. 

These extended wheelbase models were part of a larger Hyundai Motor fleet of 393 electric vehicles sponsored for the event, including 87 Electrified G80 models. The Electrified G80 extended wheelbase cars were set aside as official VIP vehicles, while the Electrified G80 cars were used mainly for protocol, security and rescue.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 12, 2023 — Today, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that the 2024 Genesis G80 and Electrified G80 earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ recognition. With this designation, the Genesis G80 and Electrified G80 join the Genesis SUV lineup of GV60, GV70, Electrified GV70, and GV80 with top honors in safety. 

“At Genesis, our entire product portfolio is engineered with the highest standards of safety for customers,” said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America. “We are pleased that the G80 and Electrified G80 executive sedans have been recognized for exceptional safety performance by IIHS.” 

To qualify for IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ in 2023, a vehicle must earn: 

• Good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, updated side and original moderate overlap front tests
• Acceptable or good headlights standard across all trims 
• Advanced or superior ratings of a front crash prevention system in both daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations must be available 

The G80 and Electrified G80 earned superior ratings for the standard front crash prevention system in daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation and advanced rating in the nighttime test. Both sedan’s LED projector headlights were acceptable-rated on all trims.

The driver is responsible for being attentive and maintaining control of the vehicle, and should not wait for the system's alerts before braking as there may not be sufficient time to brake safely. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. 

**Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region and can apply braking to help prevent an unsafe lane change. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 mph. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCA may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCA. BCA is a supplemental system and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is important to always signal, look over your shoulder and through your mirrors before changing lanes. It is the driver’s responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations. 

**Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) will not work under all circumstances. It operates above 40 mph and only when it is able to detect painted lane markings. It cannot function if the lane markings cannot be seen clearly. If the lines cannot be seen clearly due to poor road conditions, weather, or lighting conditions, it may not function. It also may not function on very rough roads, when walls, curbs or concrete barriers are close by, or if following another car too closely. Since it "sees" the lane markings using a camera in the upper windshield area, it is imperative this area be clear and free of blockage such as stickers, dirt, snow, tinting material, markings and labels. Lane Keeping Assist is not a substitute for safe driving practices, but is a supplemental assist only. The driver is responsible for always maintaining command and control of the vehicle and must keep hands on the wheel at all times. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.

In its EV roadmap, Genesis vowed to make all new models purely electric from 2025, targeting a fully-electric lineup by 2030 and striving for complete carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2035.

Genesis Lights Up Australia With EV Event

In a display of its dedication to EV innovation, Genesis revealed its first-ever dedicated electric vehicle, the GV60, in a glitzy event at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia in Sydney last year. The model, which was world premiered in 2021, shared the stage with the Electrified GV70 SUV and Electrified G80 sedan against a giant immersive installation designed by multimedia artist Jesse Woolston. 
 

Woolston’s work engulfed the Genesis display vehicles with a visual interpretation of sculptural patterns and movement in nature, creating vibrantly colored waves crashing onto the screen. 
 

Embracing the theme of art meets electrification, the Sydney event climaxed with a performance by electronic duo Flight Facilities, who hyped up the crowd with their global hits. 
 

Expanding into the Metaverse With Virtual Showroom 
 

In October 2022, Genesis introduced its first virtual showroom called the Genesis Meta Studio through an event held in the metaverse. The showroom, which caters to the Chinese audience and remains available on Baidu’s XiRang app, enables users to experience the brand’s EV lineup — GV60, Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 — along with other models with a click of a mouse.

Sustainability at the Core of Global Operations 
 

In the Middle East, Genesis’ EV lineup was officially unveiled for the first time last May, marking the brand’s debut toward electrification in the region. 
 

In both 2022 and the current year, the GV60 secured the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s highest TSP+ rating, a testament to the brand’s devotion to exceptional driver and passenger safety. 
 

With each milestone, Genesis reaffirms its position as a trailblazing force in the realm of luxury EVs, pushing the boundaries and spearheading the movement toward a sustainable future that demands nothing less than excellence in EV innovation and environmental responsibility.

Eco-Conscious Elegance in the G90

Genesis’ eco-friendly material strategy is applied to various models including the G90, the brand’s flagship luxury sedan. The vehicle represents a harmonious fusion of modern luxury and sustainability through the abundant use of premium materials that elegantly complete the interior look. 

For instance, among the vehicle’s wood trims are Newspaper Crown Wood and Newspaper Stripe Wood, a combination of recycled newspapers and natural wood. Thin sheets of compressed paper and pulp are stacked layer by layer to form a large block, and then cut sideways to create a pattern and texture resembling natural tree rings. The subtle presence of letters written on the newspapers between the wood layers adds a distinctive touch, enhancing the unique and captivating atmosphere. 

The G90 seats and console armrest come in either Nappa leather or soft semi-aniline leather, which are both bioprocessed and tinted with natural dyes and extracts from from pine trees, linseed oil and rape flower oil. 

Genesis’ commitment to using sustainable materials is also highlighted in the Electrified G80, which features the Forged Wood garnish, created by wood pieces left over from furniture manufacturing processes. 

Advancing Sustainability With EV models

When it comes to showcasing natural and recycled materials with minimal environmental impact, no Genesis vehicle does it better than the EV models. The headlining, pillars and sun visors in the Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70 incorporate fabrics made out of recycled nylon yarn and PET bottles.

 
In the GV60, Genesis’ first dedicated EV model, the console armrest, door armrests, seats and crash pad are made with plant-based leather. The seat covers and door center trims use fabrics made with yarns extracted from recycled PET bottles and fishnets, widely known to be some of the biggest culprits of marine pollution.
