FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 27, 2024 — Today, the Genesis G80 executive sedan was named Best Upper Midsize Premium Car for the fourth consecutive year in the JD Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study. Genesis also ranked third in the premium brand category, improving by two ranks overall from the prior year.

“The G80 remains a core product in our sedan lineup, offering customers the perfect balance of comfort and refined performance,” said Omar Rivera, Executive Director of Quality and Service Engineering at Genesis Motor America. “The G80’s impressive performance in this year’s JD Power Initial Quality Study demonstrates our commitment to delivering exceptional products and keeping our customers top of mind.”

The G80 lineup also includes the Electrified G80 and G80 Sport. Introduced in 2022, the Electrified G80 represents the brand’s second EV and delivers a balance of athleticism and elegance with an all-electric powertrain. The G80 Sport offers sporty exterior styling and an enhanced driving experience to customers.

The JD Power Initial Quality Study is an annual study ranking auto manufacturers and their products by problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The brand and car with the lowest level of problems wins the respective category.

SEOUL, Dec. 13, 2023 — Genesis unveiled the newly designed G80 luxury sedan on Wednesday, marking a first model change in nearly four years since its third generation debuted in March 2020.

The G80 boasts design upgrades that embody the essence of Genesis' design philosophy, "Athletic Elegance."

The new dual-mesh design accentuates the sophisticated look of the Two-Line Crest Grille on the front, while the iconic Two-Line headlamps equipped with MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology underscore Genesis’ commitment to seamlessly blending in cutting-edge technology with elegant design.

The 20-inch five double-spoke wheel design contributes to a dynamic aesthetic, reminiscent of an aircraft propeller, and strikes a perfect balance with the parabolic line of its side profile.

Rear diffusers with hidden mufflers sport a distinctive V-shape chrome trim inspired by the Crest Grille, reflecting an eco-friendly aspect of the sedan in the age of electrification.

The interior maintains Genesis’ design ethos of the uniquely Korean concept of the Beauty of White Space, with a touch of cutting-edge technology to create a sophisticated ambience.

The 27-inch-wide OLED display integrates the cluster and the AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) screen in a horizontal layout and seamlessly extends to the center fascia, enhancing its high-tech sensibility.

The touch-based HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system thoughtfully offers drivers ease of control.

The redesigned crystal-like Shift By Wire (SBW) ensures a comfortable grip and adds a sense of luxury.

In addition, Genesis revealed the images of the newly designed G80 Sport, differentiated by its dynamic design elements.

The front features the MLA-powered LED headlamps like the redesigned G80, but the G80 Sport’s Crest Grille is reinforced with a double-layered G-Matrix pattern and expanded air intakes that contribute to its high-performance image.

The strong presence of the newly designed bumper and diffusers exudes sportiness, while the addition of black garnish that hugs the rear end further accentuates its silhouette, highlighting the sport sedan’s dynamic look.

The G80 Sport offers exclusive interior packages, including a D-cut steering wheel and two types of carbon garnish (red/silver).

Both the G80 and G80 Sport are available in 10 exterior colors, including the newly added Brooklyn Brown, along with four interior color options.

Genesis plans to reveal more detailed specifications closer to the official launch date.

SEOUL, July 5, 2021 — Genesis today unveiled images of the Genesis G80 Sport, the next evolution in its G80 lineup that adds dynamic design elements to its already popular midsize luxury sedan.

The G80 Sport builds on the existing G80’s foundation of luxurious design and innovative features, while offering a more athletic exterior design that evolves from Genesis’ design identity of ‘Athletic Elegance,' with newly added interior and exterior features that set it apart.

The G80 Sport will also feature an exclusive new color: ‘Cavendish Red.’ The name is inspired by a cliffside on the north coast of Prince Edward Island in Canada, while the color was drawn from the area’s famous red cliffs.

Several unique design features set the G80 Sport apart from base models. The car’s front end will feature an exclusive design that can only be found on the G80 Sport, along with a radiator grille in dark glossy chrome, and a three-dimensional wing-shaped front bumper that accents the intake grille. Black bezels around the headlamps also highlight its sporty design.

A stunning profile reveals dark glossy chrome applied to all side moldings for a distinctive feeling of athletic luxury. G80 Sport models will also come with the exclusive 20-inch dark sputtering alloy wheels with their G-Matrix Pattern and two additional caliper colors offered in black and red.

The rear features a horizontal line that gives the G80 Sport a spacious look, while a unique bumper design contributes to its powerful and aggressive appearance from the back. Genesis has adjusted the color of the trunk lid molding too, while adding a new diffuser design to the reimagined bumper.

Three exclusive color options have been added for the interior, including black monotone with a choice between gray or red stitching, and Sevilla red.

Inside, the G80 Sport receives the Sport model specific three-spoke steering wheel, and the dashboard garnish comes in three different designs including Sport-exclusive real aluminum, real carbon, and a diamond-patterned hybrid weaving pattern, which will debut for the first time ever in the G80 Sport. Customers will also be able to choose new G80 Sport-exclusive seat quilting designs based on their choice of a diamond or V pattern.

In particular, the G80 Sport offers Rear Wheel Steering (RWS) available for maximizing driving stability.

June 28, 2017 — G80 Sport was recognized as a finalist in the 2017 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA®) by The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The organization praised the G80 Sport for its elegant, powerful lines and athletic appearance.

The Genesis G80 Sport pushes forward the modern luxury experience, breaking through convention. A focus on mindful innovation blends the needs of the driver with technological feasibility, while an emphasis on the brand’s Korean heritage creates a meaningful balance between luxury and respect for the individual driving the car.
