Rooted in the tradition of treating every customer as an honored guest, Genesis has redefined what it means to extend hospitality, weaving thoughtfulness and meticulous attention to detail into every brand experience.

The 2025 Genesis Championship was no exception. As the brand’s longest title-sponsored golf tournament, this event continues to serve as a platform to showcase how Genesis brings this philosophy to life not only for spectators, but also for the players and caddies. From elevated hospitality lounges to thoughtful touches on and off the green, the Genesis Championship exemplifies the brand’s commitment to excellence and care. But the final touch of Genesis’ unique brand of hospitality can be found in the Genesis model awarded to the one and only champion.

This year, on its grand stage, Junghwan Lee claimed the championship title, earning not just the coveted trophy but also a bespoke GV80 Black for himself. With his newly earned DP World Tour seed thanks to his triumph at the 2025 Genesis Championship, Lee has gained a foothold in the global arena, competing in the 2025 HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship in November and South Africa’s Nedbank Golf Challenge in December as his first tournament of the 2026 season.

Bespoke Luxury Befitting the Honor of a Champion

Genesis first gifted a bespoke Electrified G80 to the 2024 Genesis Championship winner Byeong Hun (Ben) An, a gesture meant to honor the excellence, performance and precision exhibited by the champion throughout the tournament.

As last year’s champion, Junghwan Lee was awarded an exclusive Genesis GV80 Black — a one-of-a-kind expression of the Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance” design ethos and innovative engineering ingenuity. Genesis Black is a trim exclusive to select Genesis models, distinguished by their striking black color theme that extends throughout the interior and exterior exuding understated luxury.

Upon opening the driver’s door, the eye is immediately drawn to the custom signature plate affixed to the arm rest. The plate is engraved with the year 2025 and Lee’s initials, the Genesis Championship trophy and the number of strokes that secured him the win. The signature plate was carefully crafted to complement the bold black interior of the Genesis Black series.

Continuing the theme are the headrests, each bearing the Genesis wing logo, the year 2025 and the player’s initials that are exquisitely embroidered on the smooth and supple black Nappa leather.

In addition, the doorsteps are adorned with bespoke engraving. The first-row doorsteps display the unmistakable “Champion’s Drive,” while the second row’s carry “Road to the World,” signifying how the Genesis Championship is an important pathway for Lee as he advances to the global golfing scene.

During the vehicle handover ceremony that took place at Genesis Suji, the Genesis Newsroom caught up with Lee who shared how he felt about his win and what it meant to him to be a new owner of a one-of-a-kind Genesis.

Since winning the Genesis Championship last fall, you’ve been competing full-time in global tournaments. How has your victory at the championship influenced your career?

Lee: Building on last year's Genesis Championship victory, I've already competed in three global tournaments in South Africa and Dubai since then. While winning the Genesis Championship was a huge thrill, I also feel a tremendous responsibility representing Korea on the world stage. Especially since I'm currently the only Korean player competing on the DP World Tour, I feel a strong sense of duty to perform well and build a positive image for Korean players. In the past, the idea of competing in global tournaments like the DP World Tour felt almost out of reach for me. But thanks to the recent experiences, I’ve passed that hurdle. From here on, I aim to keep challenging myself with the goal of joining the PGA TOUR.

How has your experience with Genesis been? For my trip to Genesis Suji today for the vehicle handover ceremony, Genesis graciously provided the G90 chauffeur service. Also, I was greatly touched by the warm hospitality and the detailed care from the staff throughout the entire vehicle delivery process.

How do you feel about the car and the customized parts?

Lee: I am grateful that Genesis provided a variety of options for me to choose from. It showcases Genesis’ capabilities of expressing customers’ stories by adding personalized touches to their cars.”

Following its launch in the Middle East, Genesis plans to expand the One of One program to other key regions, including Korea.

Transcending Moments into Unforgettable Memories

From the grand stage of the Genesis Championship to the intricately designed interiors of Lee’s personalized GV80 Black, the brand continues to demonstrate its ability to transform extraordinary moments into lasting memories.

For Junghwan Lee, this bespoke GV80 Black is not just a trophy, but a testament to his achievement and a symbol of the painstaking attention to detail and sophisticated care Genesis extends to its champions.

Genesis,Feature Article,Brand,Corporate,Culture,Sports,Innovation,Design,One of One,Genesis Championship,Golf,Junghwan Lee,Cars,GV80 Black

All expectations have been surpassed,” said Scottish cruise ship captain Donald Mcleod, who also happens to be an avid golf fan.

Donald and his wife Katie were spectators at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open in July, where they won an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2025 Genesis Championship in Korea. Genesis is also the official vehicle sponsor for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the Presidents Cup. These events serve as key platforms to showcase Genesis’ unique brand of hospitality.

Guided by Genesis’ “Son-nim” philosophy — where every visitor is treated as a cherished guest — the Genesis Championship weaves Korean hospitality and authentic cultural experiences into every aspect of the event.

The Genesis Suite, an exclusive hospitality space for VIPs, offered an unparalleled spectator experience with gourmet food and drink, curated artwork displays from the Genesis Cheongju exhibition and premium viewing areas overlooking the green. Fans could not only enjoy the golf, but also a variety of international and local culinary options, giving them the opportunity to experience Korean culture through its food and snacks. The Gallery Plaza food court featured local specialties from Cheonan, including walnut cookies and “sundae,” or Korean blood sausage, as well as international options such as pork rice bowls, barbecue, “yakisoba,” or Japanese stir-fried noodles, “karaage,” or Japanese fried chicken, and handcrafted burgers.

“The food’s been outstanding,” said Donald.

Another highlight of the Fan Village was the TGL swing simulator, which allows fans to experience TGL's innovative golf simulator technology and practice their swing in a virtual golf environment similar to the TGL game format. This immersive experience showcased Genesis’ commitment to engaging new generations of golf fans and how TGL harnesses technology and innovation in sport.

Such virtual golfing simulations, called “screen golf,” are a common pastime in Korea. “I haven’t experienced Korean golf culture beyond watching matches yet, but I would like to try [screen golf] if I get the chance,” said Donald.

The Mcleods also stopped by the Genesis Collection booth. This pop-up store was filled with official Genesis merchandise like limited-edition hats, umbrellas, tumblers and folding spectator chairs, giving fans the chance to take home exclusive souvenirs. The Genesis Scottish Open, co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, is one of Europe’s most prestigious golf tournaments and is part of the coveted Rolex Series. The tournament now occupies a prime position as the final tournament in the Back 9 — a series of nine events that encompass the DP World Tour’s most historic tournaments and national Opens. The top 110 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings in partnership with Rolex at the conclusion of the Back 9 phase will earn their DP World Tour cards for 2025, while the top 70 qualify for the DP World Tour Play-Offs. The tournament prize fund is increasing to $4 million, with 5,000 Race to Dubai Rankings Points now on offer.

The tournament will be co-sanctioned with the KPGA TOUR, with a field comprising 90 DP World Tour players and 30 KPGA TOUR players. This builds on the Strategic Alliance that was agreed between the two Tours in May 2023, which expanded the pathway for KPGA TOUR players to play on the DP World Tour.

This three-year title partnership agreement elevates Genesis’ partnership with the premier men’s professional golf tournament in Korea, where it was previously the presenting partner of the inaugural Korea Championship in 2023. Spain’s Pablo Larrazábal took home the trophy last year for his eighth DP World Tour title. The winner of the 2023 Genesis Championship, Sanghyun Park, will also be headed to the Genesis Scottish Open this year before defending his title in the newly merged 2024 Genesis Championship.

Speaking about the new agreement, Mike Song, Global Head of Genesis, said: “We are excited to open a new chapter in the Korean golf scene where global players and Korean players can compete and showcase their skills in Korea. As title sponsor, Genesis takes great pride in supporting Korean male golfers on their journey to the global stage.”

Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive Officer of the DP World Tour, added: “Genesis continues to be an incredible partner to the game of golf worldwide and with this new agreement, the Genesis Championship will be elevated in every way for 2024. Our new look Back 9 phase will add extra excitement, with the tournament playing host to a plethora of dramatic storylines as players bid to keep their Tour cards and qualify for the Play-Offs.”

Wonsup Mike Kim, Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the KPGA TOUR and KPGA added: “As we eagerly anticipate the outstanding performances of KPGA TOUR players participating in the 'Genesis Championship', this event marks a significant milestone in fostering a closer relationship between the DP World Tour and KPGA TOUR. We extend our best wishes for a successful tournament.”

Genesis has shown a strong commitment to golf with a history of tournament partnerships. This includes the Genesis Invitational, which has been part of the PGA TOUR since 2017, and the Genesis Scottish Open — a co-sanctioned tournament between the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR — where it has been Title Sponsor since 2022. He also earned sponsor exemption rights to play in the upcoming Genesis Invitational, Genesis Scottish Open and The CJ Cup.

Recording his first professional tournament victory, Yeongsu Kim picked up his game during the last round at the 7th, and held his own with a strong finish.

As fans returned to the gallery stands for the first time in three years since the pandemic regulations eased, the tournament drew wide attention from Korean golf fans with approximately 8,000 spectators visiting over the four-day period.

Rising to the much-anticipated occasion, Genesis prepared this year’s Genesis Championship under the theme of “An Inspiring Journey,” which is a nod to the brand’s commitment to helping Korean golf players achieve their best, as well as its efforts to captivate golf fans with a variety of programs and amenities on-course.

Genesis has always been committed to enhancing care for players in sponsored tournaments so their experiences are hassle-free, ensuring they save energy and time to focus on their game. Participating players were provided with hotel accommodation, as well as exclusive access to specific paths on the course so they are separated from spectators for added safety and privacy.

The brand also prepared 8,500 golf balls from six popular brands preferred by professional golfers in the driving range along with launch monitors so players can sharpen their game in an environment as close to the tournament as possible.

And along with the Players & Caddies Lounge, Genesis designated other spaces for players and their families for added convenience, including a Family Lounge where children could play and rest as they pleased.

This level of care and support were extended to caddies as well. For the first time in a Genesis Championship tournament, the winner’s caddie received their own separate trophy. And in the Gallery Plaza, Genesis displayed the caddie bibs of all past Genesis Championship tournament winners. These details demonstrate how Genesis continues to support and help cultivate golf culture through its sponsored events.

"I hope both the players and spectators who were here for the tournament are inspired to greater heights,” said Jaehoon (Jay) Chang, global head of the Genesis brand. “We will continue to build on our golf sponsorships to enhance and increase our customer touchpoints both here in Korea and overseas, while also supporting Korean players to advance onto the global stage.”

Immediately after his victory, Yeongsu Kim said, "I secured my first professional win at the Genesis Championship, and I can hardly believe it. I want to thank Genesis for its generous support for players and putting together the best tournament in Korea.” He continued, “I’ve waited a long time for my first championship victory and I’ve finally made it. I hope to continue my winning streak during the remainder of this season. This definitely was made possible thanks to everyone’s support despite the more difficult times.”

Meanwhile, promotional activities and brand experiences at the tournament underlined Genesis’ status as a global luxury brand. The most popular aspect this year were the F&B booths run by restaurants named in the 2023 Michelin Guide Seoul, which was made possible thanks to Genesis’ partnership with Michelin Guide Seoul.

The Honorary Observer program also proved to be popular this year as Genesis offered guests who purchased access to the Genesis Lounge with passes to gain inside-the-ropes experience during the Championship rounds. A total of five teams (10 people) per round were granted the unique, up-close experience.

There were also nine Genesis vehicles displayed throughout the course, showcasing some of the brand’s latest models including the G90, G70 Shooting Brake, and the GV60. Brand representatives were on hand to demonstrate the Vehicle to Load (V2L) feature as well.

Earlier this year, Genesis served as title sponsor for the Genesis Scottish Open and the Genesis Invitational. The brand was also a vehicle sponsor for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and Presidents Cup. It continues its support for golfers at the next Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January and at the Genesis Invitational in Pacific Palisades, California, in February.

Culture,Sports,Golf,Genesis Championship,Yeongsu Kim,U.S.,Genesis,Press Release

Before co-sanction the competition, representatives of the two tours visited Korea to attend a ceremony to reveal the new logo for the Genesis Scottish Open, as well as a pin flag signing event. The events reaffirmed Genesis’ commitment to hosting and collaborating on next year’s competition. As the title sponsor of the Genesis Scottish Open beginning in 2022, Genesis will continuously strengthen its partnerships with both tours along with the Genesis Invitational.

“The Genesis Championship has been leading Korean golf culture, and we are delighted that this championship, and the partnership with the two major tours, will offer Korean players an opportunity to advance in the world,” emphasized Global Head of Genesis Brand Jay Chang. “We will continue to give our unwavering support to Korean golfers.”

“Genesis has shown a strong commitment to the sport of golf with a history of tournament sponsorships, The Genesis Invitational since 2017, renowned PGA TOUR events such as THE CJ CUP, the 2019 Presidents Cup and most recently the Genesis Scottish Open, which will now be co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and European Tour for the first time as a part of a strategic alliance between the two Tours.” said PGA Tour Senior Vice President of International Christian Hardy. “Through these partnerships, Genesis has demonstrated its commitment to providing more opportunities for Korean players to compete on a global stage, which further elevates the international strength of the Korean golf culture.”

European Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley said, “The Genesis Scottish Open will provide a great platform for Genesis to introduce their brand to the customers in Europe following their entry into the European market earlier this year. With the event also being co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR for the first time next year, the 2022 edition of the Genesis Scottish Open marks the start of an exciting new chapter in the proud history of one of our most prestigious events. We are pleased that Korean players will have the opportunity to be part of this journey, not just next year but in the seasons ahead.”

Meanwhile, this year’s tournament featured players with the most Genesis points, including Yoseop Seo, who ranks first in the wins category with two wins this season, as well as prominent players such as previous Genesis Championship winners Taehoon Kim, Taehee Lee, and Seunghyuk Kim.

Jae Kyung Lee, who sealed his victory, finished the game with a final score of 14 under par 274 strokes. For winning the tournament, Jae Kyung Lee was awarded Genesis’ first dedicated electric vehicle, the GV60, and 300 million Korean won. He also received formal invitations to participate in three golf tournaments, including the European Tour’s 2022 Genesis Scottish Open, the PGA Tour’s 2022 Genesis Invitational, and the PGA Tour’s 2022 CJ Cup @ Summit.

The Genesis Championship held a promotional campaign under the theme of ‘Golf Connects 2.0,’ an expansion of the last year’s ‘Golf Connects’ campaign that celebrated the connections between players, families, and galleries. This year, ‘Golf Connects 2.0’ extends the support for both players and caddies. The campaign reinforces Genesis’ position as a supporter of the development of Korean men’s professional golf.

That support is reflected in programs like this year’s ‘caddie bib naming service,’ which saw Genesis print both players’ and caddies’ names on caddies’ ‘bibs,’ or vests, in a show of respect for caddies. Genesis also provided caddies with an exclusive lounge that offered an environment for them to reach their best condition to help players, as well as ‘robot caddies’ to assist them. Through these campaigns, Genesis received many positive responses for contributing to the development of men’s golf culture in Korea.

Culture,Sports,Golf,Genesis Scottish Open,Genesis Championship,Genesis,Press Release,PGA
