SEOUL, Nov. 19, 2025 — True luxury isn’t just about sophisticated design and cutting-edge technology; it’s about safety. More than a luxury vehicle, Genesis is a sanctuary where advanced safety features and exceptional craftsmanship come together to create an elevated driving experience.

Several of the marque’s models have been independently recognized for their safety features, passing the most strenuous safety testing with flying colors. Most recently, six Genesis models were recognized for their excellent safety performance by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). 

Independently Recognized

The IIHS awarded the 2025 GV60, 2025-26 GV70 (built after April 2024), 2025-26 Electrified GV70, 2026 G80 (built after June 2025) and 2025 GV80 models the 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating. IIHS also awarded the 2025 Genesis G90 the 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) rating. IIHS awards only apply to U.S. models.

But what is the IIHS and what do these ratings mean? The IIHS is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage from motor vehicle crashes through research and evaluation and through education of consumers, policymakers and safety professionals.

Based on a vehicle’s performance in crashworthiness tests (small overlap front, moderate overlap front: updated test, and side: updated test) as well as crash avoidance and mitigation tests (headlights and front crash prevention: pedestrian), the IIHS assigns a rating for each test.

To qualify for 2025 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the small overlap front and updated side tests and an acceptable rating in the updated moderate overlap front test. It also must earn an acceptable or good rating for pedestrian front crash prevention and come with standard acceptable- or good-rated headlights.

Earning the 2025 IIHS TSP and TSP+ awards positively promotes Genesis’ reputation as a manufacturer of safe vehicles in the U.S. market. This is because American consumers trust the IIHS’s scientific and systematic safety evaluation methods. 

Raising Safety Standards

Earning these ratings is becoming increasingly challenging, as the IIHS’s evaluation standards have become more stringent over the past few years. In 2023, IIHS increased the weight and speed it uses in the side impact test. The same year, a nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation was added. In 2025, IIHS updated the criteria to earn the 2025 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK awards, including the requirement of better protection for second-row occupants.

Genesis welcomed the new, tougher criteria and stepped up to the plate. A total of six Genesis models earned the coveted 2025 IIHS TSP and TSP+ ratings under the more stringent IIHS regulations in 2025 — the 2025 GV60, 2025-26 GV70 (built after April 2024), 2025-26 Electrified GV70, 2026 G80 (built after June 2025), 2025 GV80, and 2025 Genesis G90. IIHS awards only apply to U.S. models.

However, over in Europe, Genesis has also won top honors from the European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP). The Genesis G70, GV70, G80 and GV80 won “5-star” NCAP ratings in 2021, and the Genesis GV60 received a 5-star rating from NCAP in 2022.

Beyond Just Crash Testing

Genesis vehicles do well in independent safety evaluations because they are a part of a rigorous and comprehensive Group-level culture of safety technology development and testing. Before Hyundai Motor Group even releases a new model or submits it for outside testing, it tests it in-house at its R&D Center in Namyang, a 40,000-square-meter facility specifically designed and built in 2005 for thorough safety testing.

Within the Center, the Group spends about 4,000 hours and $7 million to run approximately 100 crash tests involving 27 different types of crash test dummies to make sure each new car model has the highest possible level of crash safety. The crash tests are only a small part of the safety testing process; most of the time is taken up in analyzing the crash results to extract meaningful insights. This data, combined with real-world accident reports from national highway and safety organizations worldwide, is used to develop and refine safety features, including innovations like the world’s first composite crash airbag developed by the automaker in 2019.

The result of all this testing is a comprehensive suite of preventative technologies that work together to reduce the likelihood of accidents. Here are some of the most notable safety technologies that can be found in Genesis vehicles:

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA):  Uses a combination of radar and front-facing cameras to scan the road ahead for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and even oncoming traffic at intersections. If a potential collision is detected, the system issues visual and audible warnings to alert the driver. If the driver does not react to the warning sounds, FCA can apply partial or full braking to either mitigate or entirely avoid impact.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA): Uses radar sensors on the rear corners to monitor adjacent lanes for approaching traffic. If a vehicle is detected, a warning light appears in the side mirror and an alert sounds inside the cabin. If the driver ignores the warning and attempts a lane change anyway, the system can gently steer the vehicle back into its lane or, in some situations, apply selective braking to prevent a collision.

Advanced Airbags: Vehicles made by Genesis include 8-10 different airbags to protect passengers in a variety of potential collisions. Front airbags exist for both the driver and front passenger. Also included on the driver’s side is a driver’s knee airbag to prevent leg injuries in a head-on collision. Side airbags inflate between the driver and the door, and between the passenger and the door, to prevent injuries from side impact collisions. Between the driver and front passenger is also a center side airbag that pops in between the two seats, reducing the chance of first-row occupants hitting each other’s heads or other objects in the event of a side collision. Only 10 car models in the U.S. have this type of safety measure installed. There are also two rollover curtain airbags that deploy from both sides of the roof rails above the front and rear doors that further protect the heads of occupants in the car in the event of side impact collisions. They also deploy if a rollover is detected in models that have rollover sensors.

The award recognizes the GV70’s bold design, real-world performance and advanced technology among a field of top competitors.

This will more than double the size of the DC fast-charging network available to Genesis electric vehicle (EV) customers.

For Yongjun Heo, it’s in the wheels.

“Just like how shoes make or break an entire look, it’s no exaggeration to say that wheels complete the overall design of a vehicle,” says Heo, who leads the Genesis Exterior Design Team.

“That's why as a brand and as a team, we’re dead serious about wheel designs.” 

The Inspiration

Audacious. Progressive. Distinctly Korean.

These three characteristics form the foundation of Genesis’ design identity, “Athletic Elegance.” They serve as the guiding star for all Genesis models, influencing every aspect of their design and product planning. 

“They are what drive us to take bolder steps than other brands, touch the hearts of customers with new technologies and incorporate exclusive Korean aesthetics," says Heo.

In wheel designs, the emphasis on Athletic Elegance leads to one critical question during planning: whether to prioritize athleticism or elegance. 

"For dynamic models like the Genesis G70 and the Genesis GV70, more aggressive spoke designs are used to express dynamism,” Heo mentions. “In contrast, for models like the Genesis G90 sedan, multi-spoke or dish-type wheels are tapped to convey elegance.”

3 Rules 

Behind every wheel design, there are three specific rules that guide the Genesis Exterior Design Team.

“One, the wheels must complement and harmonize with the overall body design,” Heo points out. “Two, they should visually appear larger-looking, and three, they must communicate a clear design message.”

No matter how aesthetically pleasing a wheel may be, it won’t be used if it doesn't meet the above criteria, particularly the first rule.

To overcome the challenge of creating a wheel design that seamlessly blends with the model, wheels at Genesis are not designed in isolation toward the end of the body design. Instead, they are developed in conjunction with the rest of the vehicle right from the outset, which approach ensures that the wheels are harmoniously integrated into the overall aesthetic.

Two Lines and the G-Matrix Pattern

When asked what sets Genesis wheel designs apart from other brands, Heo quickly highlights the Two Lines, one of the brand's signature design elements. 

"We begin with the Two Lines and explore new structural forms based on reinterpretations from different perspectives," Heo explains, offering the double-layer spoke structure of the Genesis X Concept as an example. 

Heo’s favorite: the Genesis X Speedium Coupe Concept’s five-spoke wheel.

"Considering that the X Speedium Coupe Concept was a concept vehicle, the wheels were designed to tease Genesis' future design vision," Heo recalls. "Although production feasibility was not a primary consideration, designing the wheels was still an incredibly difficult task. In hindsight, I think they ultimately elevated both the sportiness and elegance of the Genesis X Trilogy." 

Genesis wheels aren’t simply confined to aesthetics. They also offer functional advantages, like being lightweight while maintaining necessary rigidity.

The spoke cross-section design, for instance, effectively cools the brakes. The G-Matrix pattern, another one of Genesis’ signature design elements, helps secure rigidity and lighter weight, as seen in the G70 and the GV70 Sport models.

Limitless Possibilities

Looking ahead, Heo says he and his team have their eyes set on electric vehicles (EVs) and developing next-generation wheel designs that can enhance EV driving range. 

"There are countless designs to explore, along with new materials and manufacturing techniques that can significantly improve our aerodynamics,” Heo marvels. “The possibilities are limitless."

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 16, 2024 — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the 2025 Genesis GV70 and the 2024 Electrified GV70 SUVs earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) designations for vehicles built after April 2024, making Genesis the automotive brand with the most TSP+ ratings as of September 2024. 

The TSP+ award identifies the best vehicle choices for safety within their respective categories. This year’s evaluation upgraded the GV70 and the Electrified GV70 from their prior TOP SAFETY PICK ratings. 

“At Genesis, the safety of our customers always comes first,” said Cole Stutz, Chief Safety Officer of Genesis Motor North America. “The recognition of the GV70 and the Electrified GV70 SUVs as TOP SAFETY PICK + by the IIHS further validates our dedication to providing the safest vehicles on the road.” 

To qualify for 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the small overlap front and updated side test and no less than acceptable in the updated moderate overlap front test. It also must earn an acceptable or good rating for pedestrian front crash prevention and come with standard acceptable- or good-rated headlights.  

All Genesis models are equipped with a comprehensive suite of exceptional active and passive safety technologies, including Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind-Spot Collision Warning. Each vehicle in the Genesis lineup offers standard advanced safety features that help avoid crashes and provide advanced occupant protection when crashes do occur. 
 

The 2025 Genesis GV70 and the 2024 Electrified GV70 are equipped with a robust set of safety and driver assistance technologies, including:

*Highway Driving Assist (HDA) is for highway use only and can help keep the vehicle centered in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road and should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, or on winding or slippery roads. HDA 2 will not work under all circumstances and will not prevent loss of control. The driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. **Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) is designed to notify drivers of approaching cross-traffic behind their vehicles. When another vehicle is detected while you are backing out of a parking spot, it provides audible and visual display warnings and applies braking if it senses a collision is imminent. RCCA is active when the vehicle is in reverse gear and backing at a speed of less than 6 miles per hour. It only engages during the first activation of reverse gear from park and may not detect all vehicles, depending on the size, angle, distance and speed of the other vehicle. Never rely exclusively on RCCA. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection, range and clarity of the system. ***Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region and can apply braking to help prevent an unsafe lane change. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 miles per hour. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCA may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCA. BCA is a supplemental system and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is important to always signal, look over your shoulder and through your mirrors before changing lanes. It is the driver’s responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations.

Genesis earned the top Innovation Index score of 584 by offering a range of advanced technologies across its product lineup. In the premium category, the Genesis GV70 was awarded best emerging automation for front cross-traffic warning technology, known as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA). 

“Genesis is committed to putting our customers’ needs first by offering intuitive technologies that enhance the driving experience,” said Claudia Marquez, Chief Operating Officer of Genesis Motor North America. “Our goal is to make vehicle ownership a personalized experience, and we are delighted that customers continue to find our technologies innovative and tailored to their needs.” 

FCA is a comprehensive monitoring system that warns drivers of potential collisions, and if necessary, applies brakes to help prevent them. The system utilizes a front view camera, front radar and front corner radars to detect vehicles, pedestrians, powered two-wheelers and cyclists. 

The TXI Study measures the effectiveness of emerging technologies automotive brands bring to market on a 1,000-point scale. The index combines the level of adoption of new technologies for each brand with the excellence in execution. The measurement of execution examines how much owners like the technologies and how many problems they experience using them. 

The TXI Study analyzes 40 technologies divided into four categories: convenience, emerging automation, energy and sustainability, and infotainment and connectivity. 

Research engineers from the Namyang R&D Center gathered with local media last June, a month after the new model was launched in Korea, to introduce the enhancements. In this second of a two-part series, the Genesis Newsroom shares key highlights from the event, focusing on noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

Taehwan Kim, Senior Research Engineer at the Genesis NVH Test Team, stressed during the session that several changes were implemented to ensure noise-free, relaxing commutes in the redesigned GV70.

“The 21-inch wheels of the redesigned GV70 are equipped with sound-absorbing wheels that have been built with a hollow structure based on the Helmholtz principle, which effectively reduces tire resonance,” said Kim. “Dynamic dampers have also been added to the tailgate to suppress the booming noise during driving.”

ANC-R
 

To minimize road noise, Kim mentioned Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) as a key technology in the newly designed GV70. ANC-R detects road noise entering the interior through accelerometers and microphones, then generates anti-phase sound waves through an algorithmic calculation in the controller, outputting them via speakers to cancel out the noise. The vehicle thus effectively suppresses low-frequency road noise below 500 hertz, improving serenity.

With the reduction of wind noise being another critical factor for ensuring a relaxing ride, double-laminated acoustic glass that features a noise-absorbing film in between two glass layers has been utilized in the new GV70. Filling the gaps between the vehicle body and door panels are triple-layered weatherstrips that further minimize noise intrusion.

High-Frequency Noise Reduction

On high-frequency noise reduction, the center tunnel pad area on the floor has been expanded to incorporate a dual sound-absorbing structure in the carpet section, while the bulkhead structure blocking engine noise has been further strengthened. Soundproof materials were extensively added around the rear door openings to improve noise insulation from the body and undercarriage.

Minimizing Vibrations

To mitigate vibrations felt through the hands while driving, a new steering wheel with increased weight and rigidity has been applied. The dynamic damper attached to the steering wheel has been increased by over 50 percent, resulting in improved absorption of vibrations transmitted from the road.

The 8-speed automatic transmission has also been structurally enhanced to reduce vibrations that occur during driving and gear shifts. The newly added Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber (CPA) in the transmission counters torsional vibrations caused by engine rotation, ultimately delivering a smoother ride.

In a two-part series, the Genesis Newsroom shares key highlights from the event, starting with improvements on ride and handling.

Hydro Bushings 

The newly designed GV70 boasts new hydro bushings that effectively reduce road vibrations, resulting in a significantly smoother and more peaceful driving experience. Unlike conventional bushings that rely solely on the elasticity of rubber to absorb shocks, hydro bushings in the redesigned GV70 utilize the flow of fluid through an orifice (an opening or hole) within the cylindrical components. 

“The latest GV70 comes with hydro bushings on the front tension arm and rear crossmember,” Jinhyeock Yoon, Senior Research Engineer at the Genesis R&H Test Team, explained during the session. As a result of these bushings, Yoon continued, vibrations experienced during rough road driving are reduced by about 40 percent for passengers in the rear seats, with residual vibrations felt after passing speed bumps are also significantly lessened. 

Preview-ESC 

Other features in the redesigned GV70 that contribute to a stabler driving experience are a variable gear ratio steering system as well as refined springs and stabilizer bars constituting the suspension system. The suspension’s front and rear spring stiffness have been re-adjusted to reduce pitch (vertical movement of the vehicle) during driving, while the center of bounce has been moved 15 percent further back for a more natural movement of the vehicle body. 

When driving across speed bumps or potholes, the model’s Preview Electronically-Controlled Suspension (Preview-ECS) system particularly comes in handy, noted Hyungjin Kim, Senior Research Engineer at the Vehicle Motion Control Development Team. The advanced feature utilizes data from a front camera and navigation map to predict oncoming road conditions, using the information to adjust the suspension system and ensure optimal ride comfort. 

HBC 

When Highway Driving Assist (HDA) is engaged on highways, the redesigned GV70 benefits from the newly implemented Highway Body Motion Control (HBC) technology. The innovative feature effectively minimizes the jolts caused by sudden acceleration or braking, enhancing the stability of the vehicle’s body movement. With HBC in action, the GV70 is well-equipped to handle unexpected changes in speed from vehicles ahead, ensuring a smoother and safer driving experience on highways. 

“When the HDA-equipped GV70 suddenly brakes to maintain distance from the cutting-in vehicle, Preview-ECS kicks in and controls the damping force on the front and rear wheels, reducing vertical movement and pitch motion,” Kim explained.

Auto Terrain Mode

Unlike its predecessor, which featured a Terrain Mode that allowed drivers to manually select their preferred driving mode, the redesigned GV70 comes with an Auto Terrain Mode, which incorporates artificial intelligence in autonomously selecting the most appropriate driving mode based on various factors such as engine revolutions per minute (RPM), longitudinal acceleration and other real-time data. Using the input, the vehicle distinguishes between normal roads, snow, mud and sand, optimizing all-wheel drive, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) accordingly.

Integrated into this Auto Terrain Mode is the Downhill Brake Control (DBC) logic, which utilizes an accelerometer to evaluate the slope of the road while driving. If the system determines that the road surface on a downhill section is muddy, the driving mode is automatically switched to “Mud.” Even if the road surface transitions back to normal, the driving mode is maintained for safety purposes. If the road slope changes by approximately five percent in a flatter direction, the vehicle is switched back to normal driving mode.

“The Auto Terrain Mode has a 99 percent accuracy rate for recognizing road conditions,” said Kyoungsoo We, Senior Research Engineer at the Vehicle Control Technology Development Team. “The new GV70 can also distinguish between cobblestone and gravel roads.”

Crosswind Stability Control 

When crosswinds strike, nothing comes handier than Crosswind Stability Control, said Minje Hyun, Senior Research Engineer at the Vehicle Motion Control Development Team.

Crosswind Stability Control combines the functions of individual wheel braking, controlled by the ESC, and the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Gyro sensors, accelerometers and wheel speed sensors detect the vehicle’s movements, assess the need for steering correction and individual wheel braking based on the level of crosswind, and then control the appropriate level of steering and braking based on the driver’s response.

The Crosswind Stability Control function activates when the vehicle’s speed exceeds 70 kilometers per hour and detects lateral forces up to 0.3 times the acceleration due to gravity (0.3g) during straight-line driving. In the event of winds exceeding 10 meters per second, indicating a storm warning, the system automatically adjusts the vehicle’s body to maintain stability. 

“Crosswind Stability Control helps prevent the car from wobbling during sudden crosswinds,” said Hyun. “To further improve this technology, we are exploring the possibility of incorporating features that will alert following vehicles about the presence of crosswinds or integrating the system with Preview-ECS to enhance overall ride comfort.”

BUSAN, Korea, June 27, 2024 — The Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept was unveiled for the first time today at the Busan International Mobility Show 2024 (BIMOS), highlighting the brand’s bold leap into the realm of high-performance luxury mobility. 

With the X Gran Racer VGT Concept being a part of the high-performance Genesis Magma program, today’s event marked the first time that a Magma vehicle was shown to the Korean public. 

The redesigned Genesis Electrified G80, which made its world premiere at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China) on April 25, was also showcased for the first time in Korea today at BIMOS. 

Making its Asian debut at BIMOS was the Genesis Neolun Concept, following its global premiere in New York on March 25. 

“Genesis is constantly pushing the boundaries to deliver its unique values of safety, comfort and cruisable driving experience,” said Global Head of Genesis Mike Song. “As Korea’s leading luxury brand, we will always attentively listen to the voices of our customers, ensuring their desires are our utmost priority. 

Exterior: A Symphony of Form and Function 

The X Gran Racer VGT Concept is a derivative of the earlier revealed Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Concept, and the brand’s fourth vehicle developed for the Gran Turismo digital racing game series. 

The X Gran Racer VGT Concept features enhanced ground effects, optimizing the vehicle’s aerodynamic qualities and road-holding capabilities. Active aerodynamic flaps, electronically controlled for precise adjustments, ensure optimal airflow management, while the flat underbody design further reduces drag and improves vehicle stability. 

The Two-Line Crest Grille lamp design, inspired by the X Trilogy Concept, extends from the front to the sides and rear, creating a cohesive flow that optimizes airflow and enhances overall performance. 

The larger front splitter, rear diffuser, strategically placed canards on the front fascia and a more aggressive rocker panel all contribute to further enhance aerodynamic high-speed stability. 

On the side, the elongated dash-to-axle ratio positions the driver and powertrain toward the rear, creating a mid-engine layout. 

The long wheelbase and relatively short front overhangs result in a timeless proportion that epitomizes Genesis’ enduring aesthetic. 

Wheel-centric energy is elegantly expressed through the voluminous fenders, which, together with the parabolic lines, create an iconic silhouette that exudes the car’s unique character. 

The X Gran Racer VGT Concept’s rear design seamlessly integrates the powerful Two-Line character from the front and side profile into an elliptical concave volume, visually expressing the car’s concentrated energy. The real carbon fiber rear wing, meticulously designed with aerodynamics in mind, enhances downforce for improved stability, while the vertical rear lights integrated into the wing ensure visibility for following vehicles, even in extreme racing conditions, prioritizing driver safety.

The latest Electrified G80 is Genesis’ first redesign of the model since its global debut three years ago.

The latest GV70 marks the first-ever redesign of the model ever since it initially debuted in December 2020, selling more than 200,000 units worldwide. 

The interior and exterior designs have been elevated with new luxurious details embracing the brand’s design philosophy, “Athletic Elegance,” while convenience features have been improved to create a more relaxed driving experience. 

Refined Interior and Exterior Designs 

The exterior of the latest GV70 showcases various intricate yet bold details. 

The front fascia includes a dual-weave mesh radiator grille, also known as the dual-weave G-Matrix Crest Grille. The iconic Two-Line headlamps equipped with micro lens array (MLA) technology strikes a balance between advanced technology and elegant design. 

The front bumper has been enhanced with a skid plate, creating a sturdy and robust stance that is further complemented by horizontally expanded air ducts. 

The sporty impression of the vehicle's side profile has been accentuated by the newly designed 19-inch dark hyper silver wheels. 

In the rear, the turn signals have been redesigned to align with the front Two Lines concept, while being relocated from the bumpers to the rear combination lamps, resulting in better visibility for other vehicles.

Smooth and Tranquil Driving Experience 

The newly designed GV70 boasts a range of additional features that deliver a luxurious driving experience highlighted by smoothness and tranquility. 

One is the Auto Terrain Mode, which assesses road conditions in real time and automatically adjusts the driving mode accordingly. Hydro bushings have also been applied to the suspension system, improving ride comfort. 

The vehicle’s stability has been further enhanced through optimized steering tuning and the inclusion of four-piston monoblock calipers. 

When selecting the Bang & Olufsen high-resolution sound system option, the GV70 is equipped with Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) technology, which utilizes sensors and microphones placed throughout the vehicle’s interior to measure and analyze road noises in real time. By emitting counterphase sound waves through the speakers, ANC-R significantly reduces the perceived level of noise.

Newly Designed Electrified G80 Makes Debut 

The newly designed Electrified G80 was unveiled in a new blue color exclusive to the Chinese market. Inspired by the Chinese saying that “the color blue is richer than its indigo origin,” this new two-toned color, named Vision Blue, is derived from the noble blue color in Chinese culture and reinterpreted with Genesis’s unique aesthetics. 

The Electrified G80 illustrates the progression of Genesis’ EV design. Its dignified front face features the brand's iconic G-Matrix Crest Grille with MLA headlamps and a refined bumper, portraying a stance of confidence. The vehicle’s elongated wheelbase, which has been increased by 130 millimeters, adds to the sense of elegance and closely resembles the side profile and daylight opening (DLO) of the brand’s flagship model, the Genesis G90. 

Together with the brand’s signature Parabolic Lines flowing over the new dish-style 19-inch wheels, the chrome garnish that envelopes the front, side, and rear further elevates the overall look of the vehicle. Befitting a luxury EV, the charging port cover has also been upgraded to open and close electronically. 

As for the interior, the Electrified G80’s longer wheelbase not only offers more space in the second row, but brings with it a myriad of new features that are designed to enhance passenger comfort. After entering through the easy-close door, passengers can settle into reclining VIP seats with leg rests in privacy behind a rear-window curtain. The Ergo Motion Seats and Integrated Memory System (IMS) in the second row are also new features that are not found in its predecessor. 

The interior is further upgraded with the quilted garnish newly added to the second-row door. Genesis also introduced its Magma program in China with the world premiere of the G80 EV Magma Concept, also in a China-exclusive “Acme Blue” color, in addition to showcasing its X Gran Berlinetta Concept and the GV60 Magma Concept. 

The Genesis Magma program infuses the brand with a new dynamism and marks Genesis’ exciting entry into the realm of high-performance vehicles. G80 EV Magma Concept

One of the standout features of the G80 EV Magma Concept is the China-exclusive Acme Blue color. Inspired by the blue flames that are known to burn at the highest temperature range, this unique color symbolizes the dedication to China’s continuous progress and advancement while also signifying the ever-evolving nature of the brand's Magma program. 

Building on the success of the GV60 Magma Concept, the G80 EV Magma Concept marks the second electric vehicle model in the Magma program. True to the Genesis ethos, this concept highlights a more athletic aspect compared to the Electrified G80, perfectly embodying power, performance, and style. 

In terms of design, the G80 EV Magma Concept features various enhancements. The front grille has been redesigned, offering a more striking appearance. Wider fenders and a new rear bumper give the vehicle a more commanding presence on the road. The wider body and lowered ride height are complemented by 21-inch wheels, which are wider at the rear. 

The rear bumper is adorned with an integrated fog lamp, reminiscent of iconic racing cars, while a sculpted trunklid and pronounced spoiler lip contribute to improved aerodynamics. The rear diffuser and ducktail spoiler work together to optimize the flow of air, further enhancing the vehicle's overall performance. 

Performance is a key element of the G80 EV Magma Concept, with various enhancements implemented. The use of an advanced suspension system, high-performance wheels, and large, ventilated front and rear brakes significantly enhance the vehicle's capabilities. 

The wider track, tuned suspension for elevated road-holding and cornering potential, and larger brakes ensure excellent handling and increased driver confidence. Keeping in mind the importance of weight management, the lightweight wheels have been optimized to cool the brakes while reducing unsprung weight. 

The interior of the G80 EV Magma Concept is crafted with Alcantara, quilted leather, and carbon fiber inserts featuring a blue-colored weave. 

GV60 Magma Concept 

First introduced last month at Genesis House New York, the GV60 Magma Concept elevates the design and performance of the existing GV60 — Genesis’ first dedicated EV model — with improved battery and motor technology. The concept car is the first step toward creating a deeper emotional connection between the driver and the vehicle. 

The GV60 Magma Concept’s exterior design harmonizes aesthetics with considerations for chassis, aerodynamics and thermodynamics. To enhance stability during sporty driving, the car has been widened and lowered, giving it a more dynamic stance and allowing for a lower center of gravity. 

The GV60 Magma Concept’s distinctive exterior design extends into the luxurious and sporty interior. The X Gran Berlinetta Concept, first unveiled in Barcelona last December, was born from a design study that demonstrates Genesis’ passion and intent for the Vision Gran Turismo series. 

The X Gran Berlinetta Concept’s design language is pure and muscular with volumes centered around the wheels. Its design orchestrates the cab backwards proportions with Genesis’ typical anti-wedge attitude that is structured around a virtual parabolical tensioned theory, which is common to the Genesis model lineup. The package design maximizes the dash-to-axle ratio while moving the driver and powertrain rearward for a lean mid-engine layout. 

GV80 Coupe and Redesigned GV80 Begin Sales

Taking place from Feb. 26 to March 2 during studio opening hours, this will be the first public display of both Genesis Snow concepts. 

The immersive studio experience, inspired by “Athletic Elegance,” has been designed to seamlessly blend visitors into the space as they become part of the installation. Slowly rotating mirrors will create a connection between the products and guests as they pass through an infinitely long space full of ever-changing images and viewpoints. 

Along with a display of original design sketches, a bespoke set of accessories including Genesis | Anavon skis, helmet, gloves and a weekender bag will also be on display. During their visit to the studio, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy exclusive “Son-nim” (Korean term for honored guest) hospitality while exploring the Genesis Snow concepts.

About the X Snow Speedium Concept 

The X Snow Speedium is a derivative of the X Speedium Coupe Concept, which belongs to the X Concept Trilogy alongside the X Concept and X Convertible Concept. The X Snow Speedium features design elements that emphasise the brand's commitment to exploring the luxury winter lifestyle. The vehicle was first displayed to the public during the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2024. 

The car closely follows the design of the original X Speedium Coupe concept, featuring the brand’s Two Lines light signature in the front, distinctive hourglass silhouette and a parabolic line that extends from the front to the rear of the car. FRANKFURT, Germany, Feb. 5, 2024 — Genesis Motor Europe revealed an exciting adventure car, GV70 Snow, during the opening weekend of one of Switzerland’s most luxurious events, White Turf in St Moritz. As well as the surprise debut, Genesis in collaboration with automotive journalist Michael Lusk also created a thrilling horsepower against horsepower race between GV60 and trotter horse, Votre President, and donated a luxury experience into the Prix D’Honneur raffle. 

Unveiled by Genesis’ Chief Brand Officer, Graeme Russell, GV70 Snow is born from a partnership between Genesis and Delta 4x4, a German company specializing in off-road accessories and who have competed in the Paris-Dakar Rally annually since 1985. This exciting collaboration blends the finesse and luxury of the Genesis brand with the robust off-road expertise of Delta 4x4 to create an unmatched adventure car.

GV70 Snow is equipped with specialized winter sports equipment including a bespoke roof rack that features Two Vision X state-of-the-art 40-inch LED bars, ensuring visibility for all-terrain explorations at any time of day. For White Turf, GV70 Snow also features tailor-made Anavon Ski. These skis, a part of a special line developed in partnership with Genesis, combine winter extravagance with superior Swiss craftsmanship. 

With an increased ground clearance, the GV70 Snow is poised to take on tough terrains and snowy paths, ensuring a seamless and powerful off-road experience. Each side of GV70 Snow is enhanced with widened wheel arches to accommodate the BF Goodrich KO2 265/60R18 tyres, also adding a distinctive flair to the car's rugged profile. It is also equipped with Klassik B Rugged Wheels and Baja Design Fog Lights, ensuring a seamless and powerful off-road experience. 

Over the weekend, Genesis also organized a race in collaboration with Swiss automotive journalist Michael Lusk, with its award-winning all electric GV60 competing on the frozen lake against one of the prestigious trotter horses, Votre President, during the Family Day festivities. After a dead heat in the initial running of the race, GV60 powered home to win the second race by a nose despite a valiant effort from Votre President and his jockey, Patrick Kretz. 

As part of the Prix D’Honneur raffle, one lucky winner won an ultimate luxury experience: a Genesis car of their choice for a weekend and an overnight stay at a Genesis Motor Switzerland partner hotel, as well as a bespoke piece of art, created by renowned Swiss design artist Ginny Litscher. The piece, entitled “The Beauty of White Turf,” echoes the unique atmosphere of White Turf, which has been celebrating international equestrian sport at the highest level since 1907. 

Throughout the remaining weekends of White Turf, visitors can enjoy Genesis hospitality during an exclusive test drive at the entrance to the Event Village, where they will have the opportunity to test drive the Electrified G80, Electrified GV70 or GV60, the current combustion models and the new top-of-the-range G90 saloon from Friday to Sunday until Feb. 18. FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Aug. 18, 2023 – Today, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that the 2024 Genesis GV60, GV70, and GV80 SUVs earn TOP SAFETY PICK+ recognition.
 

“At Genesis, customers are at the center of everything we do, and their safety is our top priority,” said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America. “Genesis vehicles offer exceptional safety performance, and we are thrilled that our high standard for safety in our SUV lineup has been recognized by IIHS.”
 

To qualify for IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ in 2023, a vehicle must earn:

• Good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, updated side and original moderate overlap front tests
• Acceptable or good headlights standard across all trims
• Advanced or superior ratings of a front crash prevention system in both daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations must be available

GV60 and GV70 were both good-rated for headlights on all trims. GV60 earned superior ratings on the standard front crash prevention system in both vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations, while GV70’s standard system earned advanced ratings in both tests. GV80 earned a superior rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian test and an advanced rating in the nighttime evaluation.

All Genesis models are equipped with a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art active and passive safety technologies including Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning and more. Each vehicle in the Genesis line-up offers a standard suite of advanced safety features that help avoid crashes and provide advanced occupant protection when crashes do occur. • Genesis Connected Services and Connected Care: Starting with all-new 2023 models, Genesis vehicles now come included with Connected Care, with no expiration. Connected Care provides an always-on connection allowing for peace-of-mind safety features like Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, and SOS Emergency Assistance when the vehicle has access to a cellular network connection.

*Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA-Ped&Cyc) with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection helps detect pedestrians and cyclists, but not in all conditions. FCA-Ped&Cyc is designed to assist drivers to avoid, or reduce the severity of, collisions with cars that have slowed or stopped in front of them. The system is not designed to detect certain stationary objects such as trees or poles, and may not detect all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists under certain road, weather and vehicle conditions. It is a supplemental assist and does not replace the need for extreme care and attention by the driver. FCA-Ped&Cyc may not stop the vehicle completely and will not avoid all collisions. The driver is responsible for being attentive and maintaining control of the vehicle, and should not wait for the system's alerts before braking as there may not be sufficient time to brake safely. **Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region and can apply braking to help prevent an unsafe lane change. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 mph. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCA may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCA. BCA is a supplemental system and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is important to always signal, look over your shoulder and through your mirrors before changing lanes. It is the driver’s responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations.
