Considered one of the world's top three design awards including Red Dot and iF, The IDEA is one of the world’s longest-running and most prestigious design competitions. The program has evolved beyond its origins in industrial design and now recognizes excellence in design strategy, branding, digital interaction and related fields.

The Genesis G90, the brand’s flagship sedan, features the most elegant interpretation of Genesis’ design identity. The G90’s front includes a new Crest Grille and sleek Two-Line headlamps, which are designed to resemble the brand’s emblem. The Clamshell Hood design features a single panel that combines the hood and fenders to eliminate panel gaps, lending the G90 its definingly sleek design. 

The interior of the G90 brings to life Genesis’ interior design ethos of the Beauty of White Space, harmoniously combining the feeling of a high-tech device with the luxurious details that come with analog sensitivities. 

Meanwhile, the Genesis Wireless Charging System design was recognized for improving the charging experience while featuring elements such as the G-Matrix Pattern, Two Lines and more, delivering an integrated visual image of the brand’s design identity. 

The Wireless Charging System’s seamless charging experience has been recognized by the iF Design Awards and Red Dot Design Awards as well, achieving the feat of winning all three major design awards around the world. 

Genesis is a design brand whose strengths go beyond products and extend to customer experiences as well. Its efforts have been rewarded with many design awards, including past IDEA awards. The Genesis G80 Sport was an IDEA finalist in 2017, and the Genesis G70 made the finals in 2018. In 2019, the Genesis Essentia Concept received a Gold IDEA for automotive and transportation design. In 2020, the brand became a double finalist with Genesis Studio Hanam and the G90 Special Exhibition, an interactive event celebrating the flagship sedan’s launch.

Genesis Studio Hanam was named a finalist in the Environments category while its G90 Special Exhibition seeks consideration in the Digital Interaction class. 

Genesis Hanam is an inclusive experiential showroom which opened in 2016 at the Starfield shopping district. It offers a variety of encounters such as docent tours, test drive programs, concept car exhibitions as well as client communication programs. 

In commemoration of the G90 debut, the Special Exhibition was held at Genesis Studio Hanam until January 2019, attracting 78,000 visitors in 41 days. The vehicle took center stage within the studio and operated an "Interactive Experience Zone" where the exhibition space changed color based on the guests’ clothing and accessories. 

Genesis official said “We are extremely proud to be considered by IDSA for our brand space and digital design efforts. For a young brand, a brand obsessed with design, each creative element becomes part of our legacy.” 

Previously, the Genesis G80 Sport was recognized as a finalist in the 2017 IDEA and the Genesis G70 was also recognized as a finalist in the 2018 IDEA. In addition, IDSA awarded the Genesis Essentia Concept with a Gold IDEA for Automotive and Transportation design in 2019. This is the brand’s first “best of the best” award win for Genesis Vehicle Design.

Considered one of the world's top three design awards including IDEA, RedDot and iF, IDEA has recognized North America’s top design award since 1980. This specific award evaluates and ultimately selects the best in design, by comprehensively evaluating various screening criteria such as design innovation, user benefits, and social responsibility. In 2018, Genesis Retail Design and Genesis Sound Design were recognized for “best of the best” award by Red Dot.

The Essentia Concept, which was first unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in March 2018, is the Genesis brand’s first electric Gran Turismo (GT) concept car. It was recognized for its interpretation of the “Athletic Elegance” design paradigm, while providing a vision of future Genesis product performance and technology. 

The battery-electric Essentia Concept featured a luxurious look with a simple, clear and sleek exterior design and a custom-tailored interior. The interior design was focused on maximizing the connection between the driver and the car, and the overall decoration was reduced to combine restraint and futuristic impressions. 

“We aim to show Genesis brand DNA through designing to reshape the landscape of the existing luxury car design,” said Sang Yup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of the Global Genesis Design Center. “This is the foundation of our design philosophy, ‘Athletic Elegance.’”

“Being a ‘design-first’ brand means that our ultimate goal is to shape fascination and desire with the passion, dedication and talent from our studio team,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President and Head of Genesis Design. “The G70 being named a finalist in the prestigious IDEA competition is validation of those efforts and support that our design has captivated the jurors’ senses with its tensioned, muscular volumes.” 

The 2019 Genesis G70 luxury sport sedan resets benchmarks and expectations in its class for the holistic integration of performance, refined luxury and aerodynamic style. The all-new G70 showcases the future direction of the Genesis brand’s design identity by representing athletic elegance in its exterior styling, as the car captures both beauty and tension, like an athlete poised to perform. 

G70 is available with either an up-level 365 horsepower, 3.3-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine or a 252 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. No matter the driving situation, G70 raises the bar for the luxury sport sedan segment, with a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds (3.3T RWD, using Launch Control).
