FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 16, 2024 — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the 2025 Genesis GV70 and the 2024 Electrified GV70 SUVs earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) designations for vehicles built after April 2024, making Genesis the automotive brand with the most TSP+ ratings as of September 2024. 

The TSP+ award identifies the best vehicle choices for safety within their respective categories. This year’s evaluation upgraded the GV70 and the Electrified GV70 from their prior TOP SAFETY PICK ratings.

To qualify for 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the small overlap front and updated side test and no less than acceptable in the updated moderate overlap front test. It also must earn an acceptable or good rating for pedestrian front crash prevention and come with standard acceptable- or good-rated headlights.

• Genesis Connected Services and Connected Care provide always-on connection and allow for peace-of-mind safety features like Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance and SOS Emergency Assistance when the vehicle has access to a cellular network connection. 
   

*Highway Driving Assist (HDA) is for highway use only and can help keep the vehicle centered in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road and should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, or on winding or slippery roads. HDA 2 will not work under all circumstances and will not prevent loss of control. The driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. HDA 2 may not function correctly if one or more of the vehicle sensors are damaged, dirty or covered or if weather conditions (heavy rain, snow or fog) are interfering with the sensor operation. **Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) is designed to notify drivers of approaching cross-traffic behind their vehicles. When another vehicle is detected while you are backing out of a parking spot, it provides audible and visual display warnings and applies braking if it senses a collision is imminent. RCCA is active when the vehicle is in reverse gear and backing at a speed of less than 6 miles per hour. It only engages during the first activation of reverse gear from park and may not detect all vehicles, depending on the size, angle, distance and speed of the other vehicle. Never rely exclusively on RCCA. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection, range and clarity of the system. ***Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region and can apply braking to help prevent an unsafe lane change. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 miles per hour. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. The TSP+ award applies to 2024 model-year vehicles built after October 2023, when Genesis modified the rear seat belts in the G80 and G90 to improve rear occupant protection. Cars built before that date still qualify for the TOP SAFETY PICK award. 

IIHS’ top safety award identifies the best vehicle choices for safety within size categories during a given year. This year’s evaluation upgraded G80 and G90 from their previous TOP SAFETY PICK ranking. G80 and G90 now join the 2024 GV60 and GV80 with top honors.

To earn the TSP+ award this year, an acceptable or good rating in the updated moderate overlap front test is required, while a good rating in the original moderate overlap front test remains sufficient for the lower-tier TOP SAFETY PICK.

**Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) will not work under all circumstances. It operates above 40 mph and only when it is able to detect painted lane markings. It cannot function if the lane markings cannot be seen clearly. If the lines cannot be seen clearly due to poor road conditions, weather, or lighting conditions, it may not function. It also may not function on very rough roads, when walls, curbs or concrete barriers are close by, or if following another car too closely. Since it "sees" the lane markings using a camera in the upper windshield area, it is imperative this area be clear and free of blockage such as stickers, dirt, snow, tinting material, markings and labels. Lane Keeping Assist is not a substitute for safe driving practices, but is a supplemental assist only.
