The result was the first ELMS pole position for Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program drivers and also earned the Italian the Marc van der Straten Pole Position Trophy, awarded in honor of the Belgian racing legend.

Jamie Chadwick returned to her normal role of starting the #18 IDEC Sport-run Oreca 07. A strong start saw her reach turn one at La Source unchallenged, but a Safety Car before the end of the opening lap neutralized the race for the first of five times during her stint. Though she would lose the lead after the first restart, she held second position until handing over the car 12 minutes before the half-way point.

The team would lose time and positions in the pitstop, dropping to fifth in the LMP2 class after having to push the car back to allow Hörr to exit around a GT competitor in the neighboring garage. The longer than normal opening stint also limited the team’s strategy options to make up the lost time, with the pattern remainder for the race largely dictated by the minimum drive times for both Hörr and Rinicella.

The two drivers kept themselves in podium contention, with Hörr able to temporarily move back into a podium position in the middle of his stint. It was a position that Rinicella was unable to retake over the final hour of racing, leaving the team once more the first off the podium, but still taking the positives from the weekend.

However, following a post-race penalty for the #10 Vector Sport entry, the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program drivers — Jamie Chadwick, Laurents Hörr and Valerio Rinicella — have been promoted to third position overall in the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The decision gives the trio their first podium of the 2026 European Le Mans Series season and caps a strong weekend in which the team also claimed a first pole position. The team and drivers lie third in the championship standings, 18 points behind, with two rounds remaining — Silverstone (Sep. 11-13) and Portimão (Oct. 8-10).

Post Race Quotes - #18 IDEC Sport Oreca 07

Jamie Chadwick said: “It was crazy how many Safety Cars there ended up being, especially in the second part of my stint. All in all, it was fairly good. The car ahead was flying. I didn't have really the pace to keep with them, but I think second place was pretty good to come in with. The problem is, when you're fighting up at the front, it's very hard to take risks and be aggressive on strategy decisions. Unfortunately, I think this ended up hurting with all the Safety Cars in the end. It didn't fall our way strategy-wise, so I think fourth was the best we could do for today. There's a lot to be happy with, including the first pole position for the team and my first time starting on pole in ELMS, which was really cool. We can take a lot of positives, but equally a lot that we can work on.”

Laurents Hörr said: “It was really hard fighting on track, but quite clean, to be honest. We were up and down today – I lost a position, won a position. We struggled a little bit with pace. We were just missing a tiny bit, which kept us from going further. During Jamie’s stint, I was on standby for about one hour with the helmet ready in the pit lane, but it was the same for all the cars. We didn't lose in this situation, and it gave us a bit of flexibility, which maybe we could have explored further. We've been so close to the podium and we saw that here and there at this pit stop or that pit stop, we could have gained five or eight seconds or tried a different strategy. We have to be happy with the overall performance and the result, and we will see where our pace is in Silverstone.”

Valerio Rinicella said: “I would say I'm happy with the result, but at the same time, I'm a bit disappointed because I expected to be a bit faster in the second part of my stint. I think maybe the fuel load had too much effect on the car. Already in the first laps, I felt that the tires were not giving me everything, so I just tried to manage. The beginning was okay – just a lot of traffic, but it’s still more points in the pocket. So we are happy for that, but we expected more pace overall. You know, it's hard to predict what you can do or where you can improve. We showed that we had a fast car. We just need to work maybe now on long runs and to see how to manage tire degradation and the traffic a bit more. But overall we can be proud of what we've done so far. The team is happy, we are happy, and let's fight for Silverstone now.“

Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini said: “The big positive from the weekend is the pace our Trajectory Program drivers showed in the practice sessions and qualifying. Valerio’s performance in qualifying showed how much experience he has gained over the course of the season, and how fast he is on a single lap, despite his very short experience in the category, and the strength of the team in Qualifying this weekend. Unfortunately, the race didn’t fall the way we would have liked, even though there were good individual performances from all three drivers. The slow pitstop lost some time and positions, which were very difficult to make up while the second half of the event was much cleaner than the first, without the same number of Safety Cars. Fourth is still a very good result, especially while we can see the progress the drivers are making, and we know they and the team will keep pushing for the next round.”

Genesis,Press Release,motorsport,Genesis hypercar,GMR-001 Hypercar,Genesis Magma Racing,Trajectory Program,Jamie Chadwick ,Laurents Hörr,Valerio Rinicella,European Le Mans Series,4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

One is defined by silence, patience and precision. The other by speed, the roaring of engines and split-second decisions. Yet both demand the same qualities, with victory often decided by the smallest of margins. Preparation, trust, teamwork and the ability to perform under pressure become key.

For Genesis Magma Racing drivers and avid golf players, Jamie Chadwick and Dani Juncadella, the similarities transcending these sports are a lived reality. Despite competing in one of the world's most demanding motorsport categories, both recognize aspects of their profession in the game of golf.

The Art of Performing Under Pressure

Chadwick feels the mental challenge is where the sports align most closely. Beyond physical stamina, the ultimate battleground in elite sports is often fought in the mind. Success in endurance racing and a multi-day golf tournament rely on the exact same psychological edge.

“Both golf and motorsport test composure under pressure like few other disciplines,” says Chadwick. “At the highest level, it’s about how you respond in those moments. Both in golf and racing, you don’t have time to dwell on mistakes, so maintaining a strong, strategic mindset is everything.”

She explains, “[For both sports], the margin for error is miniscule. A fraction too much force, a slightly misjudged line or a lapse in concentration can change the outcome completely.”

Genesis Magma Racing team member Juncadella agrees. “It is easy to underestimate how similar the mental demands are. In racing, everything happens at speed, but the discipline is the same as golf: you’re constantly refining your technique to achieve control under pressure.

“In endurance racing, physical conditioning and mental stability are critical to performing at the highest level, much like golf, particularly across a four-day tournament such as the Genesis Scottish Open.”

It Takes a Village

The foundation of high performance is a shared culture of trust. While the spotlight often shines on the driver behind the wheel or the golfer on the green, the road to the podium is paved by a collective effort.

Juncadella is quick to share a perspective shaped by personal experience. “While both motorsport and golf often highlight individual performance, success in each relies heavily on the team behind it,” he says. “In motorsport, drivers are part of a much larger ecosystem with engineers, strategists, mechanics all working together towards success. Even though you’re alone in the car, it’s a team effort. You rely on engineers for feedback, strategy decisions and setup. It’s a constant dialogue.”

Chadwick shares this view, saying, “Golf is similar. The trust you have in your caddie plays a big part in success. Together, you discuss the best strategy and the next move to give yourself the best chance of succeeding. That relationship with the caddie is very similar to the one I have with the Genesis Magma Racing colleagues, analyzing everything in the garage.”

“Great performances are remembered for the moments that captivate us, but they are always built on countless moments and people that go unseen,” adds Juncadella. “Every achievement begins with a shared belief in doing things the right way, driven by common, strong values.”

Chief among these guiding principles is a steadfast commitment to character over convenience. “Integrity is the courage to stay true to your principles, especially when the pressure is greatest,” says Juncadella. “Respect is recognizing that every competitor raises the standard, and every teammate plays a vital role in the journey. Excellence is never a destination, but the relentless pursuit of becoming better, together.”

“Although golf and motorsport demand different skills, they are united by the same truth: no one succeeds alone,” says Chadwick. “Behind every precise swing and every perfectly executed lap stands a team driven by trust, dedication and a common purpose.”

Unlocking Potential Through Tech

In the modern sporting landscape, athletic intuition and raw data have become entirely inseparable. Today’s competitors no longer just train their bodies — they analyze their metrics, relying on technology to unlock margins of performance that were once invisible. As Chadwick explains, this digital evolution is reshaping how athletes prepare, compete and win.

“The role that technology plays in sport continues to grow, helping athletes refine performance. In racing, technology is part of everything we do,” she says. “From the data we analyze after every lap to the simulators we use to prepare, it helps us to refine every detail before we get to the circuit. Golf is evolving in a similar way, with players using data to better understand and improve their game.”

“In both cases, it’s about making better-informed decisions,” Juncadella elaborates. “Technology has become an essential part of performance in both sports. In motorsport, it helps us understand the car, the tires and our driving. In golf, it helps players analyze their swing and adapt to changing conditions.”

Chadwick distills the value that technology creates into two fundamental functions: “First, by providing the insights that help us to decide the next step, transforming data into knowledge, revealing opportunities for improvement and enabling smarter decisions.” This provides Genesis Magma Racing with the ability to analyze, learn and adapt — which can make the difference between a good performance and an exceptional one.

The second dimension is how technology physically enhances the user. “The most advanced solutions are created to empower individuals, to make the most of their capabilities and allow them to perform with greater confidence and precision. Technology becomes an extension of the person, helping them unlock their full potential,” says Chadwick.

“The greatest results emerge when these two dimensions come together: when knowledge gained through data is combined with technology designed to enhance human performance. By bringing together experience, talent and innovation, we create the conditions where people can achieve more than they could alone," Juncadella concludes.

When we talk about getting to the pinnacle of performance, Juncadella is clear: “We are really talking about those moments when everything comes together, the preparation, the teamwork, the technology and the ability to perform under the greatest pressure.”

Chadwick and Juncadella’s words leave a clear message: golf and motorsport require drivers, players, teams and caddies to be audacious and willing to embrace complexity in order to take on the most demanding challenges and to continuously redefine what is possible.

Whether on the fairway or the racetrack, true performance comes from the confidence to move forward, the curiosity to innovate and the determination to create new benchmarks. This is the mindset that drives Genesis — a commitment to challenge traditional conventions, inspire progress and pursue excellence in the smallest of details.

Genesis,Feature Article,Culture,motorsport,FIA World Endurance Championship,Genesis Magma Racing,Sports,Golf,2026 Genesis Scottish Open,Genesis Scottish Open,The 6 Hours of São Paulo,Jamie Chadwick ,Dani Juncadella,Pro-Am

The team rose through the order, running in podium contention for much of the race at the home event of the IDEC Sport team.

Team in Podium Contention from Rear of Class

Jamie Chadwick was forced to start the #18 IDEC Sport Oreca 07 from the back of the LMP2 class field following a penalty in qualifying which led to the team being stripped of their result from the session. Despite the setback, she immediately made good progress — taking two positions on the opening lap and a further two before the first Virtual Safety Car period of the race less than 30 minutes into the contest.

She continued her progress up the order, combining overtakes on circuit and a strategy decision to extend her stint beyond several rivals to rise to third before pitting to hand driving over to Rinicella. The Italian, who had qualified the car, kept the team in position through the calmer middle part of the race, remaining in contact with the podium places as gaps on track ebbed with traffic and strategy decisions.

Hörr took over the car during another Virtual Safety Car intervention with a little over an hour remaining, taking the restart in fourth. The German showed the best pace of the car, setting the team’s fastest lap in pursuit of a podium. The racing of the final stint was frantic, with several leading teams making mistakes allowing Hörr to first take third and then inherit second when the two leaders clashed. However, Hörr had himself picked up damage on the front of the car. A slower final pitstop resulted from the team examining the damage but deciding not to replace the nose of the car. The extra time dropped the #18 from the podium places, now completed by the sister IDEC Sport entry. Instead, as the damage worsened through the final run — Hörr was unable to remount a challenge for third place, instead turning to concentrate on a successful defense to protect his own position.

Post Race Quotes - #18 IDEC Sport Oreca 07

Jamie Chadwick said: “It was good fun. Obviously starting at the back, we had some ground to make up, but I was able to make the most of the traffic and make up a few positions. It was a bit of max attack to get as far forward as possible, which made my stint a bit more fun in a way. Given the penalty and where we started, we can be pretty positive, but we always want more, especially because we were fighting for the podium for so long and it was small things at the very end. Equally, I’m happy for the #28 – they did a great job all weekend -and for us, I think it’s just going to make us hungrier. Two fourth places are good points, but you always want to stand on the podium.”

Valerio Rinicella said: “I think for where we started, fourth place is a mega result. We struggled a little bit with the set-up during Free Practice, but Qualifying was really strong from my side, but we had an issue with the weight, so we had to start last, which messed up a bit of our strategy. With Jamie, we recovered a lot, and my stint was very strong. Some laps in my stint I was lucky with traffic, some lap unlucky, but that’s endurance racing. Laurents also did a mega job fighting for podiums. I’m really happy we managed to make a good recovery, so we just need to be proud. P4 is good points for the championship, and we have to keep working for the next one, so let’s see for Imola.”

Laurents Hörr said: “Generally, we had a strong package this week. We could have made the podium. It was a pity about the last pitstop where we lost a lot of time. The last two strong were just full push, with a lot of track action. One car in front of me had a technical issue and slowed down quite abruptly. The two cars between us saw him in time, but for me it was too late. I touched him slightly. We still had great pace, and I fought for the podium, but with the damage we pushed the tires too hard and I really had to fight in the end to keep P4 which is a solid result for us. It was a really tough race, including some damage at the end, due to some contact. We managed everything well. The team did an incredible job. We had a great car, and a day like today is good for us as a team.”

Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini said: “Jamie, Valerio and Laurents can be incredibly proud of their performance at the 4 Hours of Le Castellet. The penalty after qualifying was unfortunate, but they and the team responded very well. Jamie had one of her best stints in the car to attack from the back of the class and get the team in contention for the podium, and Valerio and Laurents were able to keep the car in position. The last part of the race was really intense with mistakes and problems for other teams and Laurents moving up to second. Unfortunately, the damage at the end forced him to defend for the final laps. He kept the position well despite the pressure for another strong result.”

Genesis,Press Release,Culture,motorsport,Genesis Magma Racing,GMR-001 Hypercar,Genesis hypercar,Jamie Chadwick ,Laurents Hörr,Valerio Rinicella

Hörr took over the car, continuing to push for a podium, climbing as high as third place as he had to negotiate multiple Virtual Safety Car or Full Course Yellow interruptions. In contrast, during Rinicella’s stint – taking the car for the final hour to the checkered flag – the pace amongst the leaders was relentless.

Despite taking on new tires to begin his stint and left-side tires at his final stop with 22 minutes remaining, he was unable to follow his rivals through the congestion of slower traffic to maintain the push for the podium. However, he was able to avoid contact and problems, an accomplishment that showed its value on the final lap when he took fourth position from another driver limping to the line with a damaged car.

The weekend also brought together all five drivers included in the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program for the first time. The trio of LMP2 drivers were joined by Koreans Michael Shin and Kyuho Lee, who compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship and GB3 Championship, respectively. The two single-seater drivers were able to experience qualifying and the race inside the IDEC Sport garage, immersing themselves in the event.

Post-Race Quotes - #18 IDEC Sport ORECA 07

Jamie Chadwick said: “The start of the race was a little bit tricky, but then I managed to claw back a couple of positions. I think the stint was OK; we double stinted the tires, which seemed to work quite well when the Virtual Safety Car came out. It was a little bit tricky, but we were in the fight, which was the main thing. We had positive progression throughout the weekend. I think we would have taken P4 at the beginning of the week, to be honest. With how we were running in that race, you always want more, but still, we can be really positive. The team did a great job. No mistakes, no errors and same for my teammates and I think it’s a really good foundation for the rest of the year. We need to keep working and targeting the top five. Le Castellet is a home race for the team. I think we can go well there, so aim for another top five there and hopefully we can go one higher to get onto the podium – let’s see.”

Laurents Hörr said: “It was a long stint. It was not easy because we all had fresh tires and everybody was really pushing the whole time. I was really happy with the first stint, and in the second stint everybody was pushing a little bit more and I just didn’t have the grip of the first set of tires anymore. It’s certainly a bit different in the main LMP2 class after coming from Pro-Am lineups for many years. In the pro ranks, you can just push a lot harder together with your teammates, and you can push with the car setup more, which was very pleasant for me. Overall, we have a great team ambience inside the Trajectory Program, but also with the IDEC Sport team, and its great fun, and finishing fourth is a great start to the season, with much more to come.”

Valerio Rinicella said: “It was a hard stint for me, with only two tires on the left, which were a bit hard to warm up. I think I lost a little bit of time to other guys [because of this]. The pace was OK, but not enough for P1, so I just tried to do my best. We fought for the podium until the end, but it’s endurance racing, so it was hard for me to manage everything as this is the first race for me. I think with the traffic, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get unlucky. It’s just about position, and maybe half a second can cost you two positions, or maybe you can gain two positions in just five tenths. It’s a lot about managing risk, being lucky and being in a good position. I have five races to go so I have time to work on it. In single seaters, you don’t have this issue, you just push and you try to overtake the car in front. Here there are a lot of things to do, managing and following a target lap time, fuel and traffic as well.”

Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini said: “For the new season, the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program has a tighter focus on driver development, but in the European Le Mans Series our goals remain the same. We are not targeting race wins but want to give the drivers the opportunity to gain experience, with the potential for them to join the Genesis Magma Racing lineup. For Jamie, Laurents and Valerio to begin 2026 with a top-five finish is very encouraging. It was their first race together with the IDEC Sport team, Laurents first in the Pro class and Valerio’s first in the championship, with so many new challenges to face. Each driver gave a good individual performance, with the consistency that is essential in endurance racing, and can take away important lessons for their next race in the championship.”

Genesis,Press Release,Culture,motorsport,Genesis Magma Racing,Trajectory Program,Jamie Chadwick ,European Le Mans Series,Laurents Hörr,Valerio Rinicella,Gabriele Tarquini

Genesis Magma Racing will again partner with the successful IDEC Sport squad, with its workshop close to Genesis Magma Racing’s own Le Castellet base.

Having played a vital role in the victories in 2025, Chadwick returns to the LMP2 class as the lead driver in the 2026 #18 entry. Combining racing in the six-round ELMS season with her duties as Official Reserve Driver for Genesis Magma Racing’s FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) team, 2026 will be a busy year for the British driver. The support of the Trajectory Program will aid Chadwick as she aims to claim a place in the driving lineup for the GMR-001 Hypercar.

Chadwick said: "I'm excited to be returning to ELMS with IDEC Sport as part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program. Alongside our amazing results last year, we learnt and developed as the season went on, which gives me confidence that I can come back this year as a more well-rounded driver and set some more ambitious targets.”

She continued: “Returning with two strong teammates in Valerio, who is young but very fast and a proven race winner in the Asian Le Mans Series, as well as Laurents Hörr, with the experience he has, is fantastic. I think we can be positive about our chances to be as competitive as possible. This program, alongside the Hypercar reserve and test role, will be great as I can take learnings from that experience into the LMP2 program.”

New Names Add Further Ambition to Trajectory Program

Chadwick will be joined by two drivers on their first steps within the Trajectory Program. Valerio Rinicella was part of the lineup that won the LMP2 class title in the 2024 Asian Le Mans Series, taking victory in half of the six races that season. The Italian also enjoyed a strong 2025 season, winning races in Eurocup-3 competition and making a first start at Le Mans in the Le Mans Cup’s LMP3 class.

“Being part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program is an incredible feeling,” said Rinicella. “I’m very happy to begin my journey with them — it’s a great opportunity to learn, grow and develop in the right environment. It will be a long and demanding season, and I’ll push at every moment to fight for the best possible results. Looking ahead, my goal is to continue progressing step by step, with the ambition of one day competing in the Genesis Magma Racing Hypercar program.”

The Trajectory driver lineup in the series for 2026 is completed by German Laurents Hörr. He is a multiple champion in LMP3, winning in both Le Mans Cup and ELMS competition. He also brings LMP2 experience to the team with four years’ experience in the ORECA 07, including a 2023 ELMS campaign with IDEC Sport where he scored a pair of podiums. Hörr also has two podiums in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing third in the LMP2 Pro-Am class in 2022 and 2024.

“It’s great to be back with IDEC Sport, but to be part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program is amazing,” Hörr said. “It’s a massive step forward in my career. I’m really honored to join the program and couldn’t be looking forward more to racing this year together with the team, Valerio and Jamie. I know Valerio a little bit already and I’ve obviously seen Jamie around in the paddock. It will be a really good combination between youth and experience with the three of us. The aim is to achieve the best possible results for Genesis Magma Racing and IDEC Sport and to keep learning with every race from the team. I think it will be a strong season in the European Le Mans Series and the goal is clear for all of us.”

Focus of Trajectory Program Tightens to Support Talented Drivers

2026 is a key year for the Trajectory Program. It is a change after a first year with the dual targets of preparing Genesis Magma Racing team members of WEC competition and supporting drivers similarly taking their first steps in Prototype racing. The program proved hugely successful in these aims with key team personnel set to join drivers Mathys Jaubert and Dani Juncadella in the WEC paddock this season.

With Genesis Magma Racing now part of the global series, the focus of the Trajectory Program will be exclusively on nurturing young drivers building a career in professional motorsport. This project starts in the familiar surroundings of the ELMS, with clear opportunity for drivers to, eventually, become part of the Genesis Magma Racing team.

Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini said: “The first year of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program was incredibly successful, both for results on track in the European Le Mans Series and in preparing Genesis Magma Racing for the FIA World Endurance Championship. However, for 2026 we need to change the focus of the program; to concentrate on supporting talented drivers, with the target that they should, one day, be able to step up to the WEC.”

He added: “We saw what Jamie was capable of last year, and Valerio and Laurents have also shown great pace and potential in multiple categories, including at different levels and series in Prototype competition. The potential of the drivers, and the #18 IDEC Sport-run ORECA 07, was shown in qualifying when Jaubert set the second-fastest lap, giving the team their first front row start of the season.

Starting the race, Chadwick showed the value of the year’s experience to make a pair of opportunistic moves to hold a position in the top five. She also wisely kept out of potentially costly trouble, handing over to Juncadella after nearly 90 minutes of racing. The Spaniard made the most of four fresh tires to climb from fifth to third in his stint, before Jaubert took to the track for the final part of the race in second place.

He was able to make up some time on the leader but could not close the gap to mount a challenge. In a final attempt to make up ground during the final 30 minutes he opted to save fuel and tires to potentially gain an advantage in the event of a late Safety Car. However, the final part of the race ran uninterrupted, leaving him to cross the line third.

The result was their fourth podium in six races — following wins at Barcelona, Le Castellet and Silverstone — completing an excellent season for the entire team, which included up to 17 engineers, mechanics and support staff from Genesis Magma Racing.

Race and Championship Results Exceed Trajectory Program Targets

The podium result confirmed the drivers and team in third place in the LMP2 class championship, an excellent result for three drivers in the first full season of Prototype racing.

Though never the main target for the Trajectory Program, the results on track were proof of the execution of the central aim of the entry into the European Le Mans Series: for both drivers and team to gain experience of endurance racing and learn what is required to succeed in preparation for Genesis Magma Racing’s entry into the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026.

Winning half of the season’s six races for the LMP2 class title up until the final round exceeded the initial targets of the Program. Most important, however, was the clear progress made by all three drivers during the season, with all three recognizing their improvement from race to race in both how they handled on-track situations and worked with the team between sessions and events.

Post Race Quotes – #18 IDEC Sport ORECA 07

Jamie Chadwick said: “I gained some places but also lost some places – it was a bit messy. I wanted to stay out of trouble and bring the car back in a good place. I think I did that, but we didn't quite have the pace today to do what we needed to take home the LMP2 championship. We can look back on the season really positively. Dani keeps saying it, but if you gave us P3 at the end of the year at the beginning of the year, we all would have taken it for sure. I felt like a fish out of water in the first race in Barcelona, but now I’m feeling much more comfortable and able to fight in my stints. So, the progression has been nice, but of course, you want to keep progressing, keep doing more, and hopefully that will come. We've had three wins and some amazing moments. It's been an incredible year for us as a whole team, a lot of learnings. We can be very proud of what we've achieved, even if now it feels a bit bittersweet; I think we can still take a lot of pride in it and look forward to the future.”

Daniel Juncadella said: “My stint was a bit frustrating with traffic. On one lap I think I lost six seconds with someone that I didn't want to take a risk with. I felt comfortable in the car. Obviously, we were lacking a bit of pace compared to our competitors, but we can be happy with how we executed the whole season. If you told me we were going to finish third in the season with three wins, one podium, after starting with no experience in this car for Jamie, Mathys and I, I would have cut off one leg and half an arm. I‘m very happy and very proud of myself as well in terms of performance. In Barcelona, I didn't feel I was at the level I wanted, and it took me a couple of races to reach there. I think I delivered what is expected from a professional driver and keep growing, and I gained the trust for Genesis Magma Racing for next year in the WEC, so a pretty incredible season, I would say.”

Mathys Jaubert said: “I was pushing from the first start of my stint because I had Tom Dillmann just behind me that I needed to keep behind me, which I did until the pitstop. For the second part of the stint, I was just trying to save fuel, a bit of plank and a bit of tires, but it was not enough. My teammates made no mistakes, and no penalties, which is very important in this kind of racing. We were hoping for a Safety Car, but it didn't happen. We were fast enough to be in the top three and we finished in P3. The target for the year was to finish regularly in the top five and I think that job is clearly done. My teammates are just amazing and I’m very proud of what we built this year. I'm very happy about the year we did. We improved every race. Personally, I learned a lot in terms of traffic management, and how to speak to the engineer and build a relationship and understanding with them, which is one of the most important things to improve the team and to build the real team spirit.”

Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “When we began the season with our Trajectory Program in the European Le Mans Series we set our goal to be challenging for top fives and, above all, to be learning at every race, every opportunity. I can happily say we have achieved and even exceeded those targets. The results speak for themselves – three wins and another podium in six races to take third in the championship. What is even more important is seeing how Mathys, Jamie and Dani have progressed through the season, gaining experience in endurance racing and in Prototypes, exactly as we wanted. In addition to the drivers, we have had up to 17 staff members from Genesis Magma Racing working with IDEC Sport at ELMS races this season, experiencing what is needed to succeed in endurance racing. Everyone has worked excellently together all year to make the first season of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program a success.”

2025 European Le Mans Series LMP2 Drivers’ Championship
Final Standings:

1

O. The victory also reinvigorated their championship challenge, leaving them second in the points’ standings with one round remaining.

Return to the Podium Proves Lessons Learned

The victory was the team’s first visit to the podium since their win at Le Castellet in early May. Since then, the drivers have been frustrated by mistakes and strategy miscues, often in changeable weather similar to the second half of the race at Silverstone.

Taking the lessons learned from the events at Imola and Spa-Francorchamps, the team executed an intelligent strategy. From the start, as her opening stint was interrupted twice by red flags following accidents, Jamie Chadwick showed great awareness, recognizing the opportunity to use strategy to move up from the bottom of the top ten, where she handed the car over to teammate Jaubert.

Similarly, as conditions worsened during the closing stages of Jaubert’s time in the car – taking the middle stint for the team for the first time this season – the 20-year-old Frenchman began thinking about strategy choices to improve the team’s positions. As he moved through the order, including watching a rival spin out on the greasy track ahead, he made the decisive call from sixth place to pit for full wet-weather tires.

Perfectly Timed Pit Stop Opens Way to Important Victory

The stop, where Dani Juncadella took over driving duties for the final portion of the race, made the IDEC Sport squad among the first to change to treaded tires. However, as other teams made their own stops after extra laps searching for absent grip from slick tires, Juncadella took the lead with a margin of nearly 20 seconds.

The gap allowed the Spaniard to save both fuel and tires during a brief respite from the rain. This proved critical. Despite losing time on track, he was able to hold onto the lead after a final pit stop and then had more life in his tires remaining for the final laps as heavy rain soaked the circuit before the final red flag ended the race with nine minutes remaining.

The result completed a remarkable trifecta for the team. Having won the LMP2 class in Juncadella’s home city of Barcelona, and overall at Jaubert’s home track at Le Castellet, success at the Northamptonshire track gave Chadwick victory in her first professional race on home soil since 2022.

The victory lifted the three drivers and team in second place in the ELMS standings. They are just six points in arrears with only the season finale at the 4 Hours of Portimão remaining on the calendar.

Post Race Quotes – #18 IDEC Sport ORECA 07

Jamie Chadwick said: “My stint was not the smoothest since we had the early Virtual Safety Car, where we tried to get a pit stop out of the way early, which I think was good but left me a bit out of position, so I had to make some moves, which was fun. I knew that we were off-strategy, so I was also thinking if we could save some fuel to try to get into a window. It was a great opportunity to capitalize on, so I was wondering what we want to do, but also because it's cold, you also want to warm brakes and tires and those two things don't really go hand in hand. We made the right call to manage the race and get Mathys in the car for when the race really kicked off. It’s very special to win at home. I love this track. I feel like it's a place that I have a lot of happy memories of and I added to those memories this weekend. Now we’re looking forward to the last race.”

Mathys Jaubert said: “Since I was racing in karting, I have always liked the kind of conditions with a bit of rain, but staying on slick tires. The conditions were stable – it was raining slightly the whole stint, it was only in the last three or four laps where it was a bit tricky. I saw a car in front spin and I said ‘OK, maybe calm the driving a bit’. I talked to the team, saying that they needed to prepare wet tires and then we stopped at the perfect timing. I’ve learned it is very important to be decisive at these moments. I knew that we had to take the risk. I think were a bit off in terms of pace this weekend, and we were in all the traffic with the other LMP2 cars. So we took the risk and it paid off to give Dani the lead and to take the win.”

Daniel Juncadella said: “I obviously had a very tricky stint. The track was very slippery, especially at the very end when it was really undrivable. But until that point I had a lot of fun. I think the car was incredibly good in these conditions. The team did a great job to put ourselves in position to win again. It was an amazing call by our Race Engineer and an amazing job by my teammates. Who could ever think that they are two rookies to endurance racing and they've not done a single mistake all year. It was great to be in the position today to show my ability in the wet, which are conditions I really enjoy and great to win another race. I knew I had a 15 second gap in the beginning when the track was drying out, so I was hoping I could keep the lead between 10 and 5 seconds at least for the last pit, and I think that paid off because towards the end when it started raining I had a bit better grip than my rival when the conditions were the most difficult.”

Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “The victory of Jamie, Mathys and Dani at Silverstone, and all the decisions and strategy shows how much they have progressed from the start of the season. The race was very difficult – from the start with the Virtual Safety Car and red flags when Jamie was driving, and then the changing conditions for Mathys and Dani later in the race. It was a whole team effort. Jamie managed her stint well, then Mathys made the decisive call to be one of the first to change to wets, which set up Dani perfectly to show his additional endurance racing experience to manage the lead, his fuel and tires and stay calm when the heavy rains came to hold on to the end. When we started this season with the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program, we never aimed, we never expected to be challenging for the ELMS title. However, now that has to be our target for the final round. It would be the perfect way to end the season and for us to be ready to take the next step with the GMR-001 into the FIA World Endurance Championship.”

2025 European Le Mans Series LMP2 Drivers’ Championship
After Round 5:

1

O. Gotterup’s weekend performance, highlighted by an outstanding 61 on July 11 and a closing 66 on July 13, propelled him to a 15-under-par finish, two strokes clear of world-class golfers Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge. His victory not only earned him the coveted trophy but also a valued spot in The Open that followed, underscoring the Genesis Scottish Open’s role as a major steppingstone on the path to one of the four Majors.

The Genesis Scottish Open once again brought together a strong field, arguably the most formidable PGA TOUR lineup outside of The Players Championship, contributing to record-high ticket sales and fan engagement, reflecting the tournament’s rising prestige. The 6th hole, with its stadium-like design and a competition to win a brand-new car by guessing who would score a hole-in-one, did not see any winners until the final round, when Colombian golfer Nico Echavarría finally sunk an ace with a perfect 121-yard shot and earned a Genesis GV60 SUV. The anticipation building up to this eleventh-hour accomplishment kept the tournament’s already electric atmosphere charged throughout the four-day event.

With a solidified PGA TOUR partnership now extending through 2030, Genesis is powering the Scottish Open into a decade of growth and excellence, cementing its brand as synonymous with sophistication, precision and high performance both on and off the course.

Elevating the Fan Experience

Building on the momentum of 2024, Genesis expanded its footprint at the Renaissance Club in 2025, offering visitors an immersive fan experience seamlessly intertwined with golf. The 6th Hole Genesis Public Lounge was upgraded with a display of Genesis’ latest vehicles, including the X Gran Berlinetta Concept representing the pinnacle of automotive design and innovation. Fans were impressed by the TGL swing simulator, which blended cutting-edge technology and interactive fun, letting fans test their swing skills in a virtual golf environment. To complete the cultural experience, guests enjoyed authentic Korean snacks, a nod to Genesis’ distinctly Korean hospitality approach.

Other locations at the event included an exclusive VIP hospitality space, the Genesis Lounge, which provided an elegant setting for guests to relax, network and enjoy curated culinary experiences while viewing the game. Genesis also introduced a Kids Viewing Zone dedicated to families to make golf more accessible and enjoyable for young fans. Additionally, fans had the chance to predict who would be the first player to hit a hole in one as part of the 6th Hole Stadium Experience. The fan who accurately predicted Echavarría’s ace won a Genesis Championship hospitality package including round-trip flights and accommodation for two to attend the DP World Tour and KPGA TOUR co-sanctioned tournament in Korea in October.

Genesis’ unique Korean “Son-nim” philosophy of hospitality, where every visitor is treated as an honored guest, also extends to the Pro-Am tournament as well. Not getting too frustrated with things, but I think also it’s a slower pace. The adrenaline that you have in racing you don’t have so much in golf. You need to be a bit more calm, precise and strategic with your play. But a lot of that is obviously similar in racing. So, it’s nice to draw on different sports to help me.

Are there any differences in terms of how you prepare for racing and golf?

I think preparation is everything in everything that you do. You see how many balls the professionals hit and it’s insane. They’re just constantly practicing, trying to learn every time they go out on the course. I think racing is similar to that in terms of practice and preparation. And then the other thing is equipment — like really understanding your equipment. In racing, the car is a big part of what we do and really being confident and comfortable with the machinery and the setup, all these kinds of things, and it’s the same with golf.

Genesis champions both golfers and racing drivers. What does that kind of backing and support mean to you?

It means a huge amount. They’re aligning themselves with the very highest level of two great sports. They don’t do half measures when they’re at such a high level; you see this event — it’s got 8 of the top 10 players playing. I think that says a lot about the event and the support that it’s got from Genesis.

Do you think you’ll play at the Pro-Am next year if you get a chance?

I’d love to play at the Pro-Am next year. The drivers and the IDEC Sport team missed out on points, finishing a frustrating 11th in the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) class. Qualifying and the race at the event, the third round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), were run in changing conditions, complicating the weekend. Still, the drivers all showed good pace, only for a promising performance to be derailed by a single, costly mistake.

Missed Opportunities in Mixed Conditions

Drivers and the team worked well during the test sessions and two free practices to perfect the balance and performance of the car, finishing Free Practice 2 (FP2) fastest overall after an excellent early lap from Juncadella during a run simulating qualifying.

However, a thunderstorm shortly before qualifying turned the session into a lottery as the track dried rapidly in the closing minutes. Though his early laps made him a contender to take the #18 IDEC Sport-run car’s first pole position of the season, the grid order was largely decided on the final lap of qualifying, with Juncadella’s best time shuffled back to the ninth fastest.

Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory driver Chadwick started the race and did well to keep out of trouble during some typically fractious opening exchanges on the tight confines of the Imola circuit. She held 12th in class when a multi-car accident brought out a red flag. When racing resumed, a clever strategy call by Race Engineer Mathieu Leroy — opting to only take a small splash of fuel — put Chadwick in the race lead. Though she lost the top spot after becoming stuck in traffic, Chadwick remained in second place when she handed the car over to Juncadella.

The Spaniard struggled for grip in the worst of the conditions. However, he and the team made the correct decision to stay on the same warm set of slick tires while other teams opted to stop for wet tires and ultimately lost time. Juncadella was fifth overall, moments away from stopping for new tires when he made a rare error at the Variante Alta, skating off with an hour and 45 minutes remaining in the race. He was able to return to the pits, where the team quickly replaced the nose of the car, before sending Juncadella back on track.

The incident dropped the team to twelfth in the LMP2 class, but they refocused for the rest of the race. They took advantage of the numerous full course yellow and virtual safety car periods to practice procedures. Jaubert started his stint following a safety car period, running behind the leader — but laps behind due to the earlier issues. When you're further back in the pack, it's always a little bit trickier. I was around a few of the pros, so I lost a few positions, but part of the game is not making any mistakes in the traffic, which we saw from a few others. After the red flag, the team did a great job with the short pit stop to filter out with good track position and into the lead after the safety car. I lost the lead, but still had a reasonable stint, strong enough to slot into second which was nice.”

Juncadella said: “In the mixed conditions we made the right choice to stay on slicks, many people pitted for wet. Staying out was the good option, but I was not feeling very comfortable, and felt I was struggling for pace. It was looking good for a top five result, but unfortunately, I made a mistake that I can't really understand. I need to look back and see what I did wrong. It was a small mistake with a big consequence because it threw away a good result, even though we were not the strongest today. I'm sorry to the team and my teammates. This is the kind of weekend where lots of things happen and there's a lot to analyze which you can use in the future.”

Jaubert said: “I gave everything to try to gain one lap because we were three laps down, but the other drivers were on same pace and it's difficult — you can't overtake someone who is laps in front and then block him. My stint was just about staying out of trouble, and we got a bit unlucky with the last yellow, but I had the opportunity to pit but didn't because we had miscommunication with my Race Engineer. We win together, we lose together, and we are here to learn, so we have many things to take away from this weekend. We had some good things, strong pace of all good practice and sim qualifying — good things for sure.”

Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “The 4 Hours of Imola has been a difficult weekend for the team and our drivers, especially after the excellent start to the European Le Mans Series season. However, we have always looked on this season as an opportunity for us all to learn, and there are many lessons we can take away from the weekend for things we can do better as a team. Jamie, Mathys and Dani all showed great pace throughout the weekend, and the team still made a lot of the right decisions on strategy, but the difficult conditions showed that there are still things we can work on. We will take those lessons on board, both for the rest of the ELMS season, and for 2026 as we continue to prepare for the FIA World Endurance Championship.”

2025 European Le Mans Series LMP2 Drivers’ Championship

After Round 3:

1

O. I don't think anything can fully prepare you for your first Le Mans. It’s been such a pleasure to be a part of it. It's funny, I think I would have taken your arm off to just be in the race at the beginning and then you suddenly start fighting for a podium position. Obviously disappointing in the end, but still incredible work by the whole team. I think our strategy and our teamwork has been really good and I learned a lot from André this week. In the race I just tried not to make any mistakes — not getting any penalties or anything like that. My teammates did a great job so when I got in the car, I was always in a really good position. It's a shame obviously not to continue to do that throughout the race, but I'm happy with the progress we've made. It's not easy to come to this place.”

Jaubert said: “I’m very frustrated for sure, but at least we take a lot of experience with Jamie for our first 24 Hours of Le Mans. We’re not happy about the result, but the pace was great. Like from the start of the year, we've made no mistakes, had good pace and good strategy. We were fighting for the podium, so it was a great race, but unfortunately, we had an issue on the car with the wheel. But at least we can take a lot of experience. Le Mans has been all about traffic management. Racing at night is all new for us. Also, the balance of sleeping and waking up — it's quite different, so it’s good to learn how to manage all these things.”

Lotterer said: “It was the race we wanted up until the point where we retired. I think we did really well. We had a good rhythm, staying out of trouble and not getting any penalties, so we were in the mix for the podium, but after the pit stop, we lost the right-rear wheel and there was no chance to come back with the way the differential works, so I had to park the car. It's sad for Jamie and Mathys for them not to be able to finish their first Le Mans. They were driving very steady and learning a lot. So, I think they would have deserved to be there at the end, but it's like this. It was great to be on board and represent Genesis Magma Racing colors and be with people for next year and start building team spirit already. Obviously, next year is going to be a completely different game with the GMR-001 Hypercar. The whole structure is going to be bigger, more complex and more sophisticated, but in terms of operations and human processes, we'll learn at many levels from this weekend.”

Abiteboul said: “10 months after the decision to enter endurance racing, Genesis' participation in Le Mans this year with our drivers and some of our first staff members was an achievement in itself, and another milestone of our Trajectory Program designed to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026 in the strongest possible position. We wanted to accumulate useful experience for next year, and that's precisely what we've done ever since we arrived in Le Mans, and in the 14 hours of very competitive running during the race. It was an amazing progression through the field from the team. In their first time at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jamie and Mathys were incredibly impressive in every circumstance, and we need to say a big thank you to André for sharing his experience of Le Mans with them. While we did not target a particular result, we obviously wanted to do well, and thanks to the relentless efforts of IDEC Sport, the car could progress during the first half of the race to run in solid podium positions. The retirement is a disappointment, but that should not overshadow [the fact] that it's been a very successful week where we’ve learned many things. It was also heart-warming to get such a positive response to our arrival in the WEC paddock, to the design of the GMR-001 Hypercar and the announcement of our new management structure at the event.”

Genesis,Press Release,Cars,Concepts,Magma,Culture,Genesis Magma Racing,Genesis Magma,Cyril Abiteboul,Le Mans,Brand,Regional,Jamie Chadwick ,Mathys Jaubert,André Lotterer,Anouck Abadie,Gabriele Tarquini,Mia Sharizman,Warren Scheckter,Justin Taylor,motorsport

Obviously, hypercar now is becoming one of the most competitive forms of motor sport out there. So, for the Genesis brand to be aligning with it, and coming into it, and starting for us with the Trajectory Program has been incredibly exciting. The team members that they’ve brought in, particularly coming from the World Rally Championship, bring a huge amount of experience, and that’s really exciting. And then, from a technology point of view, I think what we’re seeing with the hypercar technology, the hybrid engines, and then obviously being tested at some of the hardest races in the world, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is incredibly exciting.

You’ve had a front-row seat since the beginning. What excites you most about being a part of this journey?

I think for me the most exciting part is the potential Trajectory, to use the term of the Program that I’m a part of, yeah, obviously, the hypercar is very much the end goal of my career. It’s the highest category of endurance racing, and a level I’d love to reach that is hugely competitive at the moment as well. So, I think what excites me is seeing that pathway and then being part of a team that I think can have a huge amount of success within the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC]. It’s great to be a part of, and it’s cool to see it from the very beginning, its inception.

You were in Dubai for the launch of Genesis Magma Racing in December last year. What was that moment like for you, standing beside the car that’s redefining both your career and the brand?

It’s incredibly exciting. I think for me, seeing any road car manufacturer come into our sport and into endurance racing, is always very cool to see. But also, when you look at the people that are surrounding the GMR-001 Hypercar project — the likes of Andre Lotterer, Cyril, Pipo, Jacky Ickx — being a part of the brand is incredibly exciting. I think it shows that they are going to be a force when they come into the WEC.

How do you and the team leverage telemetry and other data and analytics to redefine or to refine both your driving techniques and race strategies during a competitive race weekend?

Using data and the technology we have available to us is hugely important. It’s instant. We can use it immediately to change things, to improve, to see what’s better, what’s worse. It’s a big part of our sport, and it’s part of the reason I love the sport so much — getting that immediate feedback, especially when you’re working with so many experienced people within our team. It really helps us, I think, particularly on the strategy side. Being able to make quick decisions with the information that you and the engineers have available has definitely helped us with the results that we’ve had. And then, from a driving point of view, you can see exactly where you need to improve. With the experienced teammates that I have as well, that really helps us make quick improvements.

This year for learning has already brought strong results for the team. How would you describe the collective effort behind those performances, and what has been the key to that success?

This year so far, we’ve had a lot more success than I think we were anticipating early on. We came into the season just wanting to learn as much as possible. We loosely gave ourselves a top five target, but winning the LMP2 in the opening two races of the European Le Mans Series championship has definitely exceeded our expectations. I really think the reason for it has been the big team element. I think we’ve worked really well, particularly from a strategy point of view. We haven’t made big mistakes, and we’ve managed to kind of pick up and make the most of others, in that sense, in two tricky races that haven’t been easy to manage. So, yeah, I think teamwork has been a huge part of it. We’ve had a really reliable and good car for the last few races as well. So, fingers crossed, we can keep that momentum going forwards.

What are you most eager to achieve in the long run?

I think in the long run my ultimate goal is to go to hypercar and compete at the highest level of endurance racing. In the short term, I obviously want to try and win more races in the ELMS championship, and with Le Mans coming up soon as well, of course, the goal is to go there and get the best result possible in our first 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Transitioning from other racing series to the Genesis Magma Racing Program presents unique challenges. Can you discuss how you’ve adapted, and what lessons you’ve learned so far?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is, I think, trying to adapt as much as possible. The car, every time you get in, is slightly different. You’ve got to constantly adapt to what you have, the different conditions, the different circumstances that you have in a race. So, the biggest lesson has to be adapting. And then, obviously, in an endurance race, it’s a long race, so it’s not all made or won in your stint. Often just trying to do the best job you can in that moment, make the most of the strategy you’ve got, and then giving the car to make the finishes is the biggest thing. And the main way that I feel like I’ve been able to adapt is by having a really good team with a lot of experience, which has helped me learn quickly. The IDEC Sport team has a huge amount of experience in this category, and I think being able to lean on them and have their support has helped a lot too.

What is the hardest lesson you’ve learned in motorsport?

I think that it doesn't matter what level you get to, you still have to work hard, and you’re always still learning. I think, in motorsport, it is never going to be plain sailing. The good days are always the good days, but to have those moments come together isn’t always easy. There are so many variables in our sport that it takes a lot for everything to come together. So yeah, you have a lot more bad days than good days, but stay motivated and hungry for it, even in those days, and work hard for when it goes right again.

After your recent impressive victories at Barcelona-Catalunya and Paul Ricard, how has that success influenced your confidence and mindset for the rest of the season?

I think it’s changed the goalposts that we’ve set for ourselves. I think coming into the season we definitely wanted to learn as much as possible, but we gave ourselves no target on results, and now I think the recent wins have given us a little bit more of a higher focus for the rest of the season, particularly with regards to the championship. And I think confidence-wise, we know we’ve got two races under our belt. We know what we’ve been capable of achieving as a team and as a group. So, carrying that now into the rest of the year, knowing what we’re capable of, I think, is a really positive thing and has definitely given us a slightly higher target for the rest of the season.

How do you usually prepare for the race, both on and off track? Do you have any personal routines or rituals that help you stay grounded?

I try not to set too many rituals or routines, but a lot of the preparation for me away from the track is physical preparation. Yeah, obviously, being new to endurance racing, long stints in the car, the physicality is something that I work hard on. And then preparation with the team at IDEC Sport, simulator preparation, trying to understand the race weekend as best as possible before going into it, particularly for something like Le Mans, is going to be a big part of it.

You’ve stepped into Formula One commentary. Has that experience changed your view of racing or influenced your approach as a driver?

I feel like I now have a different view on things, having seen it from the other side of the microphone or the camera. I also think F1 is at such a high level now, we can all learn so much from there. Being able to see it up close and analyze a lot of different situations, whether that be from a technical or driving point of view, I feel like I’m learning every day being able to do that. So, it’s given me a new perspective. It’s something I enjoy. I love being part of the Formula One Grand Prix. So yeah, it’s definitely helped influence my approach as a driver.

As a successful woman in a traditionally male-dominated sport, what unique strengths do you bring to the track, and what message would you share to aspiring female drivers?

I would say, I don't think too much about being a woman at the track when I’m competing in my own right. I just want to do the best job possible. But at the same time, I think I’m proud to try and do as much as I can for the next generation of female drivers. I think the sport is drastically changing, and particularly in endurance racing, we’re seeing a huge shift of female talent. There are so many great opportunities for women now in our sport. I think we’ve now seen five women on the top step in the ELMS alone, which is incredible to see. So, I think my message to young, aspiring female drivers would be to not let anything put you off — keep pushing.

Can you share your favorite memory with Genesis Magma Racing so far?

I’d say my favorite memory would definitely be that first win at Barcelona, mainly because we weren’t expecting it. But it was such a special weekend for all of us on the team — the first race, officially, for Genesis Magma Racing, and first win. And to have a lot of the team members that have been a part of it since the beginning all there sharing that moment was very special.

Genesis,Feature Article,Cars,Concepts,Magma,Culture,Genesis Magma Racing,Innovation,Technology,Le Mans,Jamie Chadwick ,ELMS2025,motorsport

The formation laps were completed on an already greasy track, but the rain intensified just as the green flag flew. Chadwick, starting the race from the fourth place earned by Jaubert in Saturday’s qualifying session, got an almost immediate taste of how difficult the conditions were. Under acceleration from turn two the #18 IDEC Sport-run car broke loose. Chadwick, who became the first female overall winner in the ELMS competition, held on to the car, rejoining the race.

Called in by the team, led by a race engineer from Genesis Magma Racing, she was one of the first drivers to switch from slick to wet tires. Avoiding the chaos that afflicted many others in treacherous conditions, the strategy decision lifted Chadwick into fifth where she kept pace with the lead group.

The rain remained for the start of Juncadella’s middle stint, but the latter laps of the Spaniard’s time in the car was complicated as the track began to dry. At a first stop, the team refueled the car but kept the same increasingly worn set of wet tires on the car. The decision looked like a mistake, as those teams stopping a few laps later for slicks were soon faster than Juncadella on track, and when he did pit to hand over to Jaubert on dry weather tires, it dropped the team from the podium battle, to fifth.

However, the earlier call paid off. When the teams ahead were all forced into a pitstop just before the final hour of the race due to the regulations governing a driver’s minimum drive time, Jaubert took a lead that he refused to relinquish over the remaining quarter of the race.

From the front he managed his pace to minimize the stationary time during the final stop, allowing him to return to the lead after pitting with 39 minutes remaining. He had to withstand late pressure after losing critical time overtaking slower cars, but once in clear air was able to add to his lead, taking the checkered flag just under two seconds ahead of his nearest challenger.

The result puts Chadwick, Jaubert and Juncadella, and IDEC Sport at the top of their respective championships on a total of 50 points. The victory at Le Castellet was IDEC Sport’s first LMP2 triumph at the circuit and the perfect end to the team’s home round of the championship, where the squad celebrated their 10th anniversary at their headquarters just outside the track.

Post Race Quotes - #18 IDEC Sport Oreca 07

Chadwick said: “It was a really tricky race conditions-wise, so it was a bit of a gamble which tires to go on. We chose the slicks initially and I had a big moment at the exit of turn two and dropped back. It became quite clear that this race was going to be about avoiding mistakes. We called the stop of the wets at the right time. I enjoyed my stint — the car was nice, and I knew we could make a little bit of ground up from where we were. I was just trying to stay out of trouble. I knew the race would be later on for Dani [Daniel] and Mathys. We’ve had good performance all week here at Le Castellet. Another win is a bit surreal; it’s a bit beyond our expectations. The IDEC Sport team did an amazing job today with a really good execution of the strategy. I’m just so happy for them. What a perfect start to the year.”

Juncadella said: “It’s incredible. Two wins out of two in the European Le Mans Series. The 4 Hours of Le Castellet was another race where we executed perfectly as a team. There were no mistakes — we always made the right call even when it was very difficult with the weather, my teammates did an amazing job, and we made it happen. The conditions were tricky out there. It was my first time driving this car in the wet. It was difficult, for sure, but I really enjoyed it. I felt very confident in the car straight away. Already on my out lap, I was able to make some moves and when I knew we were third, I didn’t want to take any risks. I had to stay a bit longer on the wet tires to maximize the stint time and make sure we had one stop less to the end, which was the right call from the team to give the chance to win.”

Jaubert said: “Honestly, I feel like I did nothing in my stint, I just had to finish the race. My teammates and the team gave me the car in a perfect position. I had new slick tires. I was able to save a bit of fuel and the car, and in the end, I could push because I saw second place gaining behind me. I had a few issues with my radio, so sometimes I had no information on the gap behind me, so the end was a bit tricky, but the car was incredibly fast and now we are leading the championship with a good advantage. Now we have to see for our next race, which is the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “This weekend was another great job by everyone on the team — Genesis Magma Racing staff, IDEC Sport and all three drivers — Jamie, Dani and Mathys. Two wins in two races is a great start for everyone in the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program. From the outside, it could look easy, but I promise it has not been the case. In both races, and especially in the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, every strategy decision had to be right, and the drivers had to handle some very difficult conditions on track, which they did really well. By her own admission, Chadwick struggled in traffic though her double stint, particularly on the first time while the pack remained tightly bunched after the start. The team, including the race engineer who was one of nine staff from Genesis Magma Racing integrated into the IDEC Sport team for the weekend, began to focus on strategy, opting to extend Jamie’s second stint. Excellent work to stretch the fuel bought the team a crucial few laps, putting the team in the perfect position to pit during a virtual safety car and vault up the order to fourth.

After the restart, Juncadella continued the progress, quickly moving up to second to cement the #18 car’s place among the front-runners. He held the position until half a lap from the chequered flag when a car from the LMP2 Pro-Am class, on far fresher tires than Jaubert, made the pass for the overall victory. Still, second overall and victory in the LMP2 class delivered a historic result to begin Genesis Magma Racing’s presence on the racetrack.

Post Race Quotes — #18 IDEC Sport Oreca 07

Jamie Chadwick said: “Starting off in this position is fantastic. I’m really impressed by the job that my two teammates and the IDEC Sport team with the execution of the strategy. It was incredible. I knew what we were doing with the strategy after my pace started to drop off, but I was thinking ‘we’ve missed the window now, we’re going to be way off’ and just I got the fuel alarm the virtual safety car came out. It couldn’t have been better timing. From a personal point of view, it doesn't mean so much to be the first female winner in ELMS’ top class, but it's great for the sport. That’s four female winners in ELMS today [with Iron Dames winning LMGT3]. I’m very proud to be a woman in motorsport today.”

Daniel Juncadella said: “I’m obviously over the moon with this result, it's unreal. I didn't come in with too many expectations to be fair. This is a new series for me, a new car, a new team. Winning at home in front of family and friends, It's just unreal. My stint was great, I enjoyed it out there. I think I keep learning every time, learning new things and loving it. Jamie is making really good steps. She made an amazing start, then struggled a bit in the traffic, which is the hardest part of endurance racing, where she’s still inexperienced, but she kept her foot down. We got lucky with the VSC and then I gave the car in P2 to Mathys and he did just what he knows best. I think not many people know him yet, but what a little star he is. He gave us the first win. A great start to the ELMS season.”

Mathys Jaubert said: “What a result. I didn't realize at the time but it's so amazing for us and Genesis Magma Racing. A first race and a first win with three rookies in the car. My last stint was mega. After the safety car everyone was fighting, but it's very, very hard to overtake, because when you are behind you have so much understeer in fast corners. So, you are just waiting with traffic and to take the opportunity to overtake. And this is what I did. A GT car blocked the leader, and I took the risk to overtake. I looked for the gap and I went for it. After that I had really good pace. Then it was just to manage the tires and fuel for the end. Unfortunately, one car had two new tires, but I knew that he was in a different class, so if I finished in front or behind him, we would take the points for the championship, so I didn't block him too much.”

Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “We couldn't have wished for a better start to Genesis’ endurance adventure. The Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program drivers delivered an exemplary, error-free race. The ELMS season offers Genesis Magma Racing mechanics, engineers, strategists and other team members the opportunity to learn and experience endurance racing, preparing them for the next stages of the project.

For Chadwick and Jaubert, 2025 will be their first full season in endurance racing Prototypes. The Trajectory Program aims to support drivers’ development, working toward promoting them to the driver lineup for the GMR-001 Hypercar in the FIA WEC. The experience of top-class endurance racing with a season in the ELMS provides a key part of that development, giving the drivers the opportunity to prove themselves while learning the unique requirements of endurance racing.

“The idea of starting with Genesis Magma Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026 from nothing, with no exposure to endurance racing, quickly became very scary,” said Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal of Genesis Magma Racing. “The ELMS is a place for the drivers to prove their talents and make their claim to be a part of the 2026 GMR-001 Hypercar driver lineup. It is also an opportunity for everyone involved within Hyundai Motorsport to learn about endurance racing, its code, its requirements, its community, and understand what we need to succeed when we enter WEC in 2026.”

The Target on Track: Prioritizing Development Over Results

“Of course we want Jamie, Mathys and Dani to deliver strong results,” said Abiteboul, “but more than immediate results, it is the general direction in the course of the season we are interested in. For everyone, this is a year for learning because we selected the Trajectory Program drivers with an aim of a potential promotion to Hypercar.”

For the drivers, the goal is clear. “I want to learn as much as possible,” said Chadwick. “The aim is to develop as much as possible as a team and lineup, and hopefully that will pay dividends by the end of the year. We have a great team and can fight for results. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a podium.”

Jaubert said, “Podium finishes would be incredible, but in endurance racing consistency is key. My main goal is to establish myself as a strong LMP2 driver and contribute to the team’s success.”

Chadwick and Jaubert will be supported by Juncadella, who will play an important role in the team as a more experienced driver. “It’s their first contact with endurance racing,” Juncadella said about his teammates. “I am way ahead in terms of experience, but they are very talented. I don’t think I can teach them much to make them faster, but I will help them any way I can so that they can move forward in their careers.”

Further support for the pair of Trajectory drivers will come from Genesis Magma Racing driver André Lotterer. The German will join the driver lineup for June’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. A three-time overall winner of the famous race, his knowledge of what is required for success at the event will aid the team in their toughest test of the year.

Visibility of Genesis Magma Racing Key to Aims of 2025 Season

A key motivation for working with IDEC Sport in the ELMS this season is to build the fame of Genesis Magma Racing amongst the endurance racing community. To support this goal, the #18 car will carry the unmistakable branding of Genesis Magma Racing.

The signature Magma orange — symbolizing Korea’s vibrant energy — will instantly make the car stand out on track, even as part of a tightly packed field. The team’s geometric logo, inspired by the Korean Hangeul lettering for “Magma” (마그마), with its consonants “ㅁ, ㄱ, ㅁ,” appears on the car’s nose and rear haunches, with Genesis Magma Racing proudly written across the rear wing. The same elements will also be featured in the driver’s race overalls and team clothing seen around this season’s paddocks.

“When we arrive in the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship next year, we already want people cheering for us,” said Abiteboul. “To do that, they have to know who we are, they must know Genesis Magma and Genesis Magma Racing. In 2025, we need to introduce ourselves to endurance racing fans at every opportunity and that’s what we will do through this partnership with IDEC Sport, during all the races of the ELMS championship, including the amazing 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

First Steps in Endurance Racing

The entry into the ELMS will be Genesis Magma Racing’s first steps in endurance racing. However, the series will immediately drop the team and their drivers into a highly competitive environment. Already this season, there are 14 entries in the LMP2 category, in addition to a further seven contesting the LMP2 Pro/Am category. All LMP2 teams use the same combination of Oreca 07 chassis, V-8 Gibson engine and Goodyear tires. The Prototype racers share the track with the slower LMP3 and LMGT3 classes.

The result is an incredibly competitive grid, the perfect introduction to the demands of endurance racing and a high-speed classroom for Chadwick and Jaubert to develop their skills.

“I think the biggest challenge will be how competitive the series is,” said Chadwick. “All the ELMS races are only four hours, so they will be flat out from start to finish. This year will also be my first time in the top category in multi-class racing, so I will have to get used to the speed differential and traffic management.”

Juncadella chimed in, saying, “Everything is new. I’ve never really raced in the ELMS before. It’s my first time racing the car and my first time with the team, but I’m sure that everything I’ve learned through the years will give me a head start at the start of the season.”

Iconic Circuits All the Way on Six-Stop Calendar

The six race weekends of the 2025 ELMS will take the drivers to a succession of iconic tracks. Starting with the opening race of the year in Barcelona, Spain, each circuit hosts a four-hour race, and each provides its own test of drivers, car and team. From the high-speed sweeps of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Silverstone in the U.K. to the technical challenges of Imola in Italy and the season finale in Portimão, Portugal, via a home race for the IDEC Sport team at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, every track promises a thrilling contest.

“Paul Ricard feels like a home race for me,” said Jaubert. “I live in the south of France, so I’ll have a lot of support from family, friends and partners. Having that energy around me will make it a special event.”

“It’s a highlight of the year to be racing in Barcelona, my hometown,” said Juncadella. “I haven’t raced there in a few years, so that just adds to the excitement to get the season going.”

2025 European Le Mans Series Calendar
April 4-6: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain
May 2-4: Circuit Paul Ricard, France
July 4-6: Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Italy
Aug. 22-24: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium
Sept. 12-14: Silverstone Circuit, United Kingdom
Oct. 16-18: Algarve International Circuit, Portugal

1.
