BARCELONA, Spain, Oct. 17, 2026 — Genesis Magma Racing has announced Dani Juncadella as its first driver for the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at an event held during the 6 Hours of Barcelona weekend. The timing of the confirmation recognizes the Spaniard’s importance to the team as well as the significance of the event, reinforcing the strategic role of Spain within Genesis’ broader European ambitions.
Confirmation Adds to Important Spanish Weekend
The confirmation took place at an event in central Barcelona organized by Genesis Motor Europe. The event provided a fitting opportunity to confirm the Spanish driver during an already special weekend as he competes at home during the WEC’s first-ever visit to the country.
“I’m already massively motivated for next season,” said Juncadella. “My first season in Hypercar has been a valuable experience. As a rookie, even at 35, there were still a lot of things to learn, but I feel like I have got better and better through the season and so has the team.”
He added: “It’s great to receive this news at my home race because I have my family and friends around to enjoy the moment with me. It’s great that WEC is racing in Barcelona — it’s something I never really expected — and being part of the event while confirming my place in the team has left me really pumped up for the race.”
Working well with Paul-Loup Chatin and Mathieu Jaminet, his co-drivers in the #19 GMR-001 Hypercar, he has played an important part in the car’s development throughout the year, having also contributed to its initial development after being confirmed as part of the 2026 squad in September 2025.
“Dani’s performances this season have been consistently impressive, and his recent WEC experience has been very important to the team,” said Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini. “I’m very happy that we can confirm him for 2027, and I hope we can achieve further milestones together in the final two rounds of this season.”
