Genesis Magma Racing is the official motorsport program of Genesis, representing the brand’s bold entry into the motorsport arena. Rooted in Genesis’ core ethos of “Disruption, Refined,” Genesis Magma Racing combines precision engineering, dynamic performance, and advanced technology to compete at the highest levels. The team debuted the GMR-001 Hypercar in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2026, powered by a newly developed V-8 engine inspired by Hyundai’s WRC technology.
As part of Hyundai Motorsport, which has built a strong legacy in the World Rally Championship (WRC), Genesis Magma Racing benefits from Hyundai’s extensive motorsport expertise and engineering capabilities. Cyril Abiteboul
Team Principal
Cyril Abiteboul brings extensive experience is motorsport management to the Team Principal role. During his career, he has taken up influential roles at Renault and Caterham. He became Team Principal of Caterham F1 in 2012, followed by a return to Renault in 2014 as Managing Director of Renault Sport F1, where he oversaw the team’s operations until 2020.
He joined Hyundai Motorsport in 2023 in the role of Team Principal of the Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT. One year later, he was elevated to the role of Hyundai Motorsport President, reflecting the company’s confidence in his leadership and vision.
Under his stewardship, Hyundai Motorsport not only delivered its first WRC Drivers’ title with Thierry Neuville, but also announced an expansion into endurance racing, with Genesis Magma Racing set to begin its first FIA World Endurance Championship season in 2026.
Gabriele Tarquini
Sporting Director
Gabriele Tarquini is one of the most successful Touring Car drivers of all time. He has won the British, European and World titles, including the inaugural WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup title in 2018 with Hyundai Motorsport. Following his retirement from racing, he became Team Manager for the leading Hyundai Motorsport customer squad in the TCR category, helping guide the team to four titles in three years.
Starting from June 2025, Gabriele became Sporting Director for Genesis Magma Racing, bringing his unparalleled experience in motorsport to a new role and arena.
FX Demaison
Technical Director
François-Xavier Demaison, better known as FX Demaison, joined Hyundai Motorsport as Technical Director in 2023. He currently fills that role with both our FIA WRC team and Genesis Magma Racing, overseeing the design and engineering work for both projects.
FX’s work with Hyundai Motorsport is the latest chapter in a successful career in the motorsport industry, spanning from WRC and TCR to Formula 1 and Rallycross, including two years as part of the Williams F1 team, and a key role at Volkswagen Motorsport.
Justin Taylor
Chief Engineer
Justin Taylor joined Genesis Magma Racing in 2025 after having recently acted as Race Engineer in two leading teams in the Hypercar and LMDh categories.
In his role of Chief Engineer, he plays a vital role in contributing to the development of the GMR-001 Hypercar and the team, to be ready for the 2026 WEC season and beyond.
He brings crucial experience of not just WEC, but also IMSA competition – critical as Genesis Magma Racing sets its sights on entering the North American-based championship in 2027.
Anouck Abadie
Team Manager
Anouck Abadie joined Genesis Magma Racing in June 2025 as Team Manager, with the aim of building a strong team starting from the ground up to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
She brings a fresh approach to her role with the team, as well as experience of working both within the FIA and leading endurance teams as Team Manager and Sporting Director.
