GENESIS GV70, ELECTRIFIED GV70 SECURE IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ HONORS

  • 2025 Genesis GV70 and 2024 Electrified GV70 SUVs elevated to IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation for vehicles built after April 2024 
  • Genesis awarded more 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designations than any other brand (as of September 2024)


FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 16, 2024 — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the 2025 Genesis GV70 and the 2024 Electrified GV70 SUVs earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) designations for vehicles built after April 2024, making Genesis the automotive brand with the most TSP+ ratings as of September 2024. 


The TSP+ award identifies the best vehicle choices for safety within their respective categories. This year’s evaluation upgraded the GV70 and the Electrified GV70 from their prior TOP SAFETY PICK ratings. 


“At Genesis, the safety of our customers always comes first,” said Cole Stutz, Chief Safety Officer of Genesis Motor North America. “The recognition of the GV70 and the Electrified GV70 SUVs as TOP SAFETY PICK + by the IIHS further validates our dedication to providing the safest vehicles on the road.” 


To qualify for 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the small overlap front and updated side test and no less than acceptable in the updated moderate overlap front test. It also must earn an acceptable or good rating for pedestrian front crash prevention and come with standard acceptable- or good-rated headlights.  


All Genesis models are equipped with a comprehensive suite of exceptional active and passive safety technologies, including Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind-Spot Collision Warning. Each vehicle in the Genesis lineup offers standard advanced safety features that help avoid crashes and provide advanced occupant protection when crashes do occur. 
 

The 2025 Genesis GV70 and the 2024 Electrified GV70 are equipped with a robust set of safety and driver assistance technologies, including: 

  • Eight standard airbags, including front, side and curtain for both the driver and passenger, a driver knee airbag and a center airbag to protect against injury in the event of an accident. 
  • Highway Driving Assist* helps center the vehicle within the driving lane at an appropriate speed, while keeping a safe distance from the car in front. 
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist** provides audible and visual warnings and applies brakes when the vehicle detects a potential collision. 
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist*** helps reduce the chance of potential impact with a vehicle that is detected in the blind spot. 
  • High Beam Assist helps keep the driver and others safe by automatically turning on and off the high beams based on the ambient light and illumination from the headlamps of oncoming vehicles. 
  • Genesis Connected Services and Connected Care provide always-on connection and allow for peace-of-mind safety features like Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance and SOS Emergency Assistance when the vehicle has access to a cellular network connection. 
     

*Highway Driving Assist (HDA) is for highway use only and can help keep the vehicle centered in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road and should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, or on winding or slippery roads. HDA 2 will not work under all circumstances and will not prevent loss of control. The driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. HDA 2 may not function correctly if one or more of the vehicle sensors are damaged, dirty or covered or if weather conditions (heavy rain, snow or fog) are interfering with the sensor operation. Always drive carefully and use extreme caution when other vehicles are present. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations. 


**Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) is designed to notify drivers of approaching cross-traffic behind their vehicles. When another vehicle is detected while you are backing out of a parking spot, it provides audible and visual display warnings and applies braking if it senses a collision is imminent. RCCA is active when the vehicle is in reverse gear and backing at a speed of less than 6 miles per hour. It only engages during the first activation of reverse gear from park and may not detect all vehicles, depending on the size, angle, distance and speed of the other vehicle. Never rely exclusively on RCCA. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection, range and clarity of the system. ***Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region and can apply braking to help prevent an unsafe lane change. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 miles per hour. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCA may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCA. BCA is a supplemental system and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is important to always signal, look over your shoulder and through your mirrors before changing lanes. It is the driver’s responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations.
