Genesis Magma Racing confirms unchanged driver roster for 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship
Following announcement of Dani Juncadella during 6 Hours of Barcelona, Genesis Magma Racing completes six-driver lineup for 2027, which also includes Paul-Loup Chatin, Pipo Derani, Mathieu Jaminet, Mathys Jaubert and André Lotterer
Maintaining stable lineup will provide valuable continuity as team builds on its sporting achievements and continues to develop GMR-001 Hypercar
BARCELONA, Spain, Oct. 21, 2026 — Genesis Magma Racing has confirmed its six drivers for the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), retaining the same lineup for the team’s second season in the series. The decision provides the stability and consistency needed to build on the knowledge gained during the development and debut season of the GMR-001 Hypercar. It will allow the team to maintain its momentum and continue working towards its ambition of scoring points regularly in 2027.
Stability Provides Foundation for Further Progress
Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “Continuity is essential at this stage of our program. Our drivers have built valuable knowledge of the GMR-001 Hypercar and strong working relationships with our technical team. They have also developed a positive dynamic and genuinely enjoy working together. Retaining the same lineup allows us to carry this experience and team spirit into 2027, continue developing the car efficiently and take further steps towards scoring points with both cars at every race.”
Genesis Magma Racing has achieved several important milestones during its first FIA WEC season. The team was immediately competitive at the opening round in Imola — before the #17 GMR-001 Hypercar scored the program’s first championship points in only its second race at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The same car later finished seventh at Lone Star Le Mans, the brand’s best result to date.
The team also achieved one of its main objectives by finishing the 24 Hours of Le Mans on its first attempt. The #19 GMR-001 Hypercar then fought inside the top five for much of the 6 Hours of Fuji before the #17 car secured Genesis Magma Racing’s first FIA WEC pole position at the 6 Hours of Barcelona — only seven races into the team’s debut season.
These achievements, combined with the drivers’ contribution to the development of the GMR-001 Hypercar, provide a strong foundation for 2027. Throughout the season, the six drivers have built a close relationship with each other and the wider team. Keeping the group together will allow Genesis Magma Racing to build on this positive dynamic, maintain its momentum and focus on unlocking further performance from the car.
“Our drivers understand the car, our working methods and what we need to improve,” said Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini. “They work very well together and have built a strong relationship with the entire team, so we are very pleased to continue with this group next season. Securing our first pole position in Barcelona was an important milestone and demonstrated how far we have come together in our debut season. We believe this group has the experience and potential to go even further. With the same drivers, we can build on these strong foundations, unlock further performance from the GMR-001 and fight regularly for points in 2027.”
The exact lineups for the team’s two cars for the 2027 season will be confirmed ahead of the first race of the year.
