REDESIGNED GENESIS ELECTRIFIED GV70: UPGRADES EXPLAINED
SEOUL, July 9, 2025 — The Genesis Electrified GV70 has always been a standout, seamlessly blending sophisticated luxury with cutting-edge technology in an SUV electric vehicle (EV). Now, with its recent redesign, the Electrified GV70 elevates that standard even further, offering upgraded features, exquisite design details and an even more compelling driving experience.
Exquisite Exterior Details
The exterior of the redesigned Electrified GV70 showcases Genesis' signature “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy with more sophisticated details.
The most noticeable change is none other than the newly designed Crest Grille. Its diamond-shaped G-Matrix pattern gradually diminishes in size toward the bottom, creating a three-dimensional effect that emphasizes the vehicle's futuristic, electric character.
The bolder bumper design further enhances this look, with a wider intake area that adds to the SUV’s powerful stance.
The iconic headlamps, a hallmark of Genesis’ Two Lines design language, now come with Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, improving light output while accentuating the elegance of the front fascia.
From the side, the redesigned Electrified GV70 boasts new 20-inch wheels finished in matte dark gray. The new wheels showcase a sporty five-spoke design optimized for aerodynamics and include resonators applied to the rim area where the wheels and tires connect, effectively reducing road noise.
The 19-inch wheels also come in matte dark gray, completing the rugged yet sophisticated look.
The rear design has been refined with a focus on clarity and visibility. The turn signals, which used to be on the bumper, have been integrated into the rear combination lamps, improving their visibility to following vehicles. The high-mounted stop lamp on the rear spoiler has been streamlined, overall resulting in a cleaner appearance.
Interior Oasis of Calm and Technology
Slipping inside the redesigned Electrified GV70, passengers are greeted by an interior that embodies the brand’s minimalist "Beauty of White Space" principle. The cabin is designed to be both technologically advanced and luxuriously comfortable, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.
The most striking feature is the new 27-inch integrated wide display, which seamlessly combines the instrument cluster and the infotainment system into a single, panoramic screen. The steering wheel has been redesigned with a new emblem and refined stitching details, adding a touch of elegance to the driver's experience.
The central air vents have been lowered to the former climate control interface, while the climate controls have been integrated with the center console and transitioned to a touch control method, resulting in a more modern design.
Elevating the interior ambiance is the new “Milky Way Pattern Mood Lighting.” Inspired by the Milky Way, this unique feature creates a mesmerizing effect with delicate pinpricks of light reminiscent of stars. Complementing the mood light is the mood lamp, which extends from the upper door trim to the center fascia, enveloping the cabin in a soothing and sophisticated glow.
The lighting elements beautifully enhance the new interior color option, “Icy Blue/Glacier White Two-Tone,” which, along with the Nappa leather and PET suede materials, accentuates the luxurious feel of the distinctive driving experience.
Performance Upgrade
On the road, the redesigned Electrified GV70 delivers impressive performance. A key upgrade is the new 84 kilowatt-hour fourth-generation battery technology with increased capacity, achieved not by increasing the number of battery cells but by improving the energy density per cell from 618 watt-hours per liter to 670. This higher energy density allows for an extended driving range compared to the previous model.
With a powerful performance of up to 360 kilowatts (approximately 490 metric horsepower) in Boost Mode, the driving range on a single charge reaches 423 kilometers with 19-inch wheels, an improvement from the predecessor’s 400 kilometers with the same-sized wheels.
Equipped with dual motors at the front and rear, the redesigned model pulls off a maximum output of 320 kilowatts (about 435 metric horsepower) and a peak torque of 600 newton-meters (approximately 61.2 kilogram-force meters). With Boost Mode, these figures rise to a maximum output of 360 kilowatts (about 490 metric horsepower) and a peak torque of 700 newton-meters (about 71.4 kilogram-force meters).
The latest EV model also boasts excellent fast-charging performance. Using a 350-kilowatt ultra-fast charger, the battery can go up from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 19 minutes.
What’s more, the improved Battery Conditioning Mode maintains the battery at an optimal temperature for fast charging, backing performance in hot weather.
Next-Level Comfort
A key improvement in the comfortable ride of the latest Electrified GV70 lies in the rear suspension bushings. The hydro bushings at the front of the rear crossmember, along with the optimized rear power electric (PE) mount bushings, effectively reduce vibrations, while the optimized steering gear ratio enhances handling agility.
The Preview Electronically Controlled Suspension, which contributed significantly to the previous model’s comfortable ride, has been further refined with the addition of Highway Body motion Control (HBC) technology, activated when the Highway Driving Assist feature is engaged. Together, these systems minimize body roll during sudden acceleration and braking.
Fun and Convenient
Maximizing the joy of driving, a feature called Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) has been introduced to replicate the shifting sensation of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles through drive motor control. The Active Sound Design has also been newly tuned, and a dedicated animation appears in the cluster when Boost Mode is activated, strengthening driver immersion.
A new EV power control technology allows passengers to conveniently access utility mode by pressing the start button once without pressing the brake pedal. While driving is not possible in this mode, users can still use features like vehicle-to-load.
The charging port, which used to require manual operation, is now electronic and can be controlled from inside the vehicle. Lighting and heating elements have been incorporated as well, making it easy to charge at nights or in cold weather.
